Wow, excellent posts on this thread and topic. I've been away for a few days, and am just now catching up here on the blog.

Thanks, Bemused, and others.

The "ouch factor" is pretty sharp here. I hope there has been enough true repentance in my heart that I no longer function this way. After being pickled in it for decades it's not easy to get completely clean of it.

But I really want to be. Free to accept and love. Unconditionally and without agenda.

Think of it as like being an alcoholic, you can't get better until you recognised there is a problem. Which of course you've done, congratulations, welcome to Abused Anonymous.

Pain
I guess it's a matter of sensation
But somehow
You have ways of avoiding it all

In my mind
I have shot you and stabbed you through your heart
I just didn't understand
The ricochet is the second part

Cause you can't hide
What you intend
It glows in the dark
Once you've sought
The path of revenge
There's no way to stop
And the more I try to hurt you
The more that it hurts me

Strange
It seems like a character mutation
Though I have all the means
of bringing you fuckers down
I can't make myself
To destroy upon command
Somehow forgiveness
lets the evil make a loss

No you can't hide
What you intend
It glows in the dark
Once we become
The thing we dread
There's no way to stop
And the more I try to hurt you
The more it backfires
The more it backfires
The more that it backfires

Above is a link to a humorous political blog that I follow. The recent "What's not to like" post had me thinking when I read this:

"Joe Walsh, you know the idiot congressman from Illinois, the Obama hatin’ TeaNutz® one? The one who owes over $110K in back child support? The one who failed to show up for a court hearing regarding same? The one who spent thousands of his own money on his election campaign, and bled “poverty” when it came to taking care of his kids? That one. Remember him?

Well, the Family Research Council has awarded him its “Pro-Family” award. For being “100% true-blue supporter of family, faith and freedom.”

Seriously."

I'm struck by the similarities to the powers that be (and were) at NT. Here's a guy who apparently spouts all the right stuff and gets awarded for what he spouts. No one cares to look deeper to see what he does.

Just like NT. The lip service or silence seems to be keeping the wolves at bay and meanwhile they do NOTHING. When did the Via investigation start? How many months ago? Where are the updates? Such as, how many have been contacted or when can we expect the final report?

Seriously, people. This timeline that I'm seeing makes me think that by the time they get to my school, I'll be dead. Also, from the rumblings that I pick up from fellow MK's, loads don't expect anything in their lifetime and are trying to move on. The moving on part is good, however, it's not moving on if you just scab over the cancer and leave it to fester.

I have a question for you legal minds out there. You know who you are!

What is the statute of limitations for covering up a crime? Assuming you can pick one? The longer the powers that be drag this out the closer they get to the end of the statute of limitations for covering up these crimes. Maybe this should have been posted under "collusion."

Let get the award for Best Protector of Children polished up for NT.

Great post, great question. I'll have a go at answering it. It depends on the severity of the crime. Which is why I want to know who raped. Rape has a very long statute of limitations, especially of a minor (under age 16 downunder). Look at the Catholic Church and how far their offences went back. Some people suffer from repressed memory, this is taken into consideration, i.e. if a victim has only just recalled events because of a trigger point in their life.
Also there is variation from country to country. Many of the countries that these offences occured in have vastly different laws than the West (and Downunder). They also have big problems to sort out themselves and a squabble between a couple of foreigners won't be of a lot of interest. Which is why the Australian angle is being played. It happened to Australians on Australian soil and Australians won't like that when they find out.

Point from history. If you have a toothbrush moustache (or were one of his friends), spent the years from 1939 to 1945 doing unspeakable things, then tried to cover it up and hide. The Israelis would still like to speak to you and believe me they don't bother with negotiating first about statute of limitations.
Remember when the Israelis flew into Uganda and extracted their hostages right under the nose of Idi Amin (brilliant story and film)? Then remember how the U.S. botched their attempt to do the same thing and get their hostages out of Teheran. The moral of the story is, sometimes the little guy wins, you've just got to go for it and be focused.
See I was listening in history class 8-)
