I am a good friend of Survivor's, and also a survivor of sexual abuse by my (self-appointed) pastor father. I have been following what is going on with Steve offline. I can vouch for Survivor's amazing desire for Steve's overall good--that he will truly repent and come close to God. I cannot say that my feelings about him are so pure. I am livid that this man has molested an untold number of children; I am livid that he continues to lie about his grotesque sins using "spiritual" language that he hopes will deceive his listeners. He is Satan appearing as an angel of light.
Based on Steve's behavior throughout the years, I really don't believe that he will ever truly come to repentance. Of course it is possible, but considering that thus far he has always given in just enough to placate his accusers, then later backtracks on what he admitted to, I hold out little hope. Steve's latest is that he does not "remember" abusing all of these girls. He is basically playing dumb. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor, and I will tell you that this assertation is ludicrous! Steve is definitely a sexual predator, and sexual predators do not forget that they are predators. What absurdity will this man come up with next to shift the spotlight off of himself?
I truly feel for his daughters, wife, and sons-in-law. They are in a difficult position to be now faced with the ugly truth of this man that they love so much. No matter which way each chooses to believe, their relationships will never be the same again. Please remember to pray for each of them as they are facing the truth and making subsequent choices. They are also victims, having been purposefully deceived all of these years.
