It's where I'm from. I was born in Durham, raised in Peniel, Shekinah, Vianopolis, Durant, and broke my nose in Cornettsville playing soccer. We played soccer in Camdenton...Beth Fyock was so cute, but I was too shy, but I did shake her hand. We played soccer against Waukesha, with Jersey boy Gordon Bennett mocking us, just like New Yorkers do here. Now that I've lived here, I realize he was just spurring us onto good works, and meant nothing by it.

My father-in-law tells me he was told by one of the americanos that I shouldn't have gotten involved, because everything was handled properly. That particular americano was a good soccer player. The other day on the S40 bus, I tried to convince a millennial to move over one seat so a lady could sit down. Couldn't do it.

But then I realized I needed to learn several things. One, I don't need to feel like I have to change things; in fact, maybe I'm the one who needs changing.

I called the FBI yesterday and was carrying on, and the lady said, "We're powerless when it comes to these large corporations."

Regardless of how pointless life might seem, regardless of how lonely we might feel, God is at work. He loves us more than we will ever know. He is working to draw all people to Himself. His Son died for all 7.3 billion of us. We build walls to protect ourselves and our families. We are envious like Cain was as to Abel. But as we seek Him humbly, as we listen to His kind correction, his rod and staff comfort us.

Rudy is part of the cleaning staff at a building near the Whitehall ferry terminal. He is probably in his late 50's. I met him on the sidewalk in front of One New York Plaza. He told me that he has two giants following him all day long....goodness and mercy, just like it says in Psalm 23. What an encouragement he was to me. We need to encourage each other. As we show love to others, those castle walls start to fall. As the walls fall, His Holy Spirit moves more freely. And God's love not only covers the multitude of my sins, but it bathes my mind and heart so that I can love those around me, so they might experience His love, including on Lake Monroe.
