I don't think that anyone here is trying to shift blame from the abusers to NTM. Each and every abuser is personally and fully responsible for what they did.

What NTM is being held resposible for is what NTM, as an organization, did, or more importantly did not do, in response to that abuse. I think that reading through the main web site and these forums, it's quite clear what those issuess are.

MK Falcon - I don´t understand you wanting us to name names? We HAVE named names. If we haven´t named names that needed to be named, it´s only out of compassion and a willingness to allow NTM the benefit of the doubt (and allow them to makes SOME sort of move). But I don´t understand how we cannot hold responsible the people who were authorities over the perpetrators. I really can´t wrap my mind around what you´re saying. Don´t let loyalty to a structure, an organization, override your loyalty to your fellow, suffering, man. And true healing can only come to the perpetrators with confession, humility, forgiveness, grace. As for healing for the victims, I was just realizing today, that this has been the FIRST time I talked about what happened at Via with others who shared that experience with me, the FIRST time in 17 YEARS! It´s been so freeing - and I truly had forgiven and moved on. Imagine for those who still hadn´t been able to face what happened. NTM needs this, otherwise it will not be able to continue to participate in what God´s doing all over the world. This is for the good of NTM! Don´t lay the blame on parents, they have enough guilt poured on them as it is - for most, they were victims as well.

Since the early 1990s, NTM has sought to look into every allegation of child abuse brought to its attention. Most of those have involved incidents in the 1980s and early 1990s. In the majority of cases, the problem has been addressed to the satisfaction of NTM, the students or former students, and their families.

Where there is new or continuing dissatisfaction, a review is probably necessary. And NTM reiterates its commitment to investigate any new reports of child abuse, no matter how long ago they took place.
