Since some have suggested they didn't see their name on the petition I checked for my name and couldn't find it. I did see my husband's name, maybe I just missed it after quite a few scrolls, didn't see very many names I recognised and that made me so sad. Full stop.

Ach! I wish there were a good explanation.

Alas, I think this is my conclusion:

Thousands have been asked to sign the petition (many through Facebook -- I myself have almost 400 friends, and only 3 or 4 signed it), and very few have taken up the challenge. I daresay most have not even read the excellent statement written by GRACE. I conclude that very few Christians care a lick about this concern that is so heavy on our hearts.

What subject would get more attention than sexual abuse in the church? Well, browse through that particular petition website and see for yourself:

"Keep Elephant Abuse out of California's Nevada County Fair": 147,510 signatures.

"Stop Tortoise Smuggling in Madagascar": 23,188 signatures.

Oh, and here's a popular cause:

"Stop Importing Beluga Whales for Marine Parks": 152,265 signatures!

Total frustration, sitting here in front of my computer. The average American Christian really doesn't feel led to take the time to read a long petition about sexual abuse, let alone sign their name to it.

Yeah, well in that case I am ashamed to call myself a Christian, if that is as good as we can do.

So it's Sunday right? And the pews are full of people who should have signed this! There should be millions of signatures, but oh no we have pastors who can't even be bothered to raise it from their treasured pulpit, facebook Christians who can't be bothered.

Where's Larry Brown's signature, with a big comment reading Sorry! Sorry! Where's all those other loyal Tribers, signatures?

You are right. Cowards who haven't the guts to stand up for their own children and others children, yet pretend to be good Christians are lower than the byproduct of a cows digestion system and should be dumped on the dung heap of life.
