I think the petition is a good idea. I'm a little nervous about it because I wonder how many would sign it. I would hope a lot would sign it but by the silence from many that I know in NTM and the outright hostility of others I really don't know. If anything it might be a useful indicator of where the larger silent majority is at in regards to the Fanda Abuse and bigger picture of leadership style and other abuses committed. I would not be able to write the petition/s but would be willing to canvas and ask for signatures.

My husband and I are current members we just started serving at Sanford home office. My husband is at the home office full time, I'm a mother of 4 stay at home mom. We came to Sanford with such excitement and enthusiasm, then the Fanda Abuse and stuff came out, what a bummer! My husband and I would like to meet with leadership probably Dan Kreider to ask a bunch of questions. We have to find a time to do that as we are all busy. If we do not get satisfactory answers we have a difficult decision to face. Personally I would be in favor of leaving but it's not that simple. I appreciate the perspective of having people on the inside who can pray and work to effect change. I guess it comes down to What does God want us to do?

Larry Brown told everyone at the HQ meeting that there is someone who is monitoring everything on this website. Hello monitor person.

I'm an NTM MK and current member of NTM. I guess that makes 3 of us, another MK.

I've been reading these boards, and I want to say that I mourn with each of you for what you've been through. Though I wasn't abused per say, I have seen the effects of this kind of abuse on many people. I long for brokenness in our organization. I ask the many tribers who are reading this to join me in mourning and asking God's forgiveness for the atrocities that have been committed in the name of ministry and God. Let's ask God for brokenness in our lives, for His perspective on life and ministry. Let's plead with God for wisdom for our leaders, that they would see the truth and find freedom, that they would lead with integrity and honesty.

As part of NTM, I ask each of you who were abused for your forgiveness.

Thank you for your courage in stepping out and being public.
May your voices ring loud and clear.
May your hearts be humbled and grieving.
May the truth be clear in your eyes.
May your feet walk down the paths you know you must travel.

I'm an MK who is a member of NTM. I am truly sorry for all the hurt and criminal acts many of you have suffered. I knew of abuse where I grew up too. For some reason, back then I thought some of it was just normal, like long beatings some of my friends received. I don't recall suffering any abuse, but being in the dorms at such a young age was painful enough. I'm glad you have been able to tell your stories on here and I know it will have an impact on changes happening in NTM. I have shared a little of my experiences on the PNG abuse page.

I am reading a lot about reporting to the police what you have heard, calling 911...
We have had a situation in our church (not NTM):
We met a man in a church we attended who was helping in children's ministries. We didn't know anything about his past, just knew him as someone working with the kids in church. We ended up leaving that church and got involved in another church. Later on, this man showed up in our new church. He had not yet offered to help with kids ministries, but we thought he would as he loved working with kids. We are very careful to do background checks on anyone who works with the children. A background check would not have helped in this case. Some police in our church shared some information with us about this man, that left us horrified, knowing this man had worked with kids in the last church where we first met him. Evidently, Before we ever met him, he was accused of child sexual abuse. The little girls were too affected and couldn't handle all the court cases, so the man got off on a lighter sentence, just did a little jail time and some parole, but he was not accused of abuse. Our police friends were convinced he really was guilty of the abuse. Doing a background check would not have shown his true history. Even googling this mans name does not show anything about this abuse case.
It's left me wary of background checks being very helpful.
In this case, even the police couldn't do anything more.
Some day those girls will be adults and may want to take it further, if they can. Until then, this man is free. He's now moved to another state, involved in another church. Very concerned what happened here will happen again somewhere else.

Tuti...even the language "monitoring" is such a classic example of what we're talking about with NTM. Is the same person that's "monitoring" spending the same amount of energy to fix and heal or just to "monitor" like they're some Nazi police! Unbelievable.

thanks Agast, that makes 4 of us. I know what you mean about thinking many things were normal that just weren't. I think it takes time to realize the pain abuse causes when you've grown up in an abusive environment and are dealing with your own life. Thanks for your courage. Let's stand strong!
