OH----maybe only one has settled---I thought 2 had.
How does that cover "most" of the sexually abused Fanda MKs?

MB, I think you might be confusing mediation/arbitration and suing.

The MKs who accepted a financial settlement through a mediation process DID NOT sue NTM.

Those who filed lawsuits DID NOT accept a settlement through mediation.

As far as I know, the only MKs who have gone through an arbitration process and accepted a financial settlement are Fanda MKs. And I do believe these settlements included a promise not to speak about the settlement or the amount.

Only one lawsuit has been settled so far, and in that one, the MK also received money. Those terms have not been revealed publicly and I do not know if a promise not to talk about the money was a part of the settlement or not.

It remains to be seen if the other two lawsuits will be settled soon or will go all the way to court. Millions of dollars are being requested in the suits, so I am thinking it would be in NTM's best interest to settle before things go all the way to court.

I know this is all complicated and confusing. I may not have it all straight myself!

Did NTM contact the MKs after GRACE and ask them to sign something that they were satisfied with what GRACE had done and signed off on suing?

I don't like the idea of suing either. Publicity seems to be what works. But publicity is hard to get, even for our conference. But if money is involved all of the sudden the press is interested.

I believe one of the best things that could happen is if the churches started publicizing that they would not support missions who refuse to be open and allow third party investigations. It might wake up the missionaries if their support stops. It is difficult for someone who feels they are really doing a good work under the radar of the mission to have to take a stand that will jeopardize their work. But maybe it is time to realize the evil abuse done to children cancels out any good that is done. I don't think that missions realize that the nationals in these countries know what is going on, they look at the nationals as ignorant peoples. Surprise the nationals are intelligent people who have been repressed by missions.

I believe that we were all molded and shoved into the same cookie mold. Say nothing, respect all adults, be scared of your shadow.,, always obey, never be negative..you're never good enough,,you are nothing,,

so when it comes to dealing with it now...we do as we are told now... "come to mediations,,,we want to help" Fanda was found guilty so go to mediations. They are there to help and they are so sorry and they didn't know what was happening.. Then they body slam you...you don't know what you are talking about. You are still the one that is wrong and a liar..."we are always the one that is right" mediations don't work and going against our 'growing up' grain....lawsuit is the only way

That technique must be learned somewhere, because I've had it with my own father. It goes along the lines of, we just want a word with you, just come on round and we can have a friendly chat. Then when you are sitting down you get the "you are a liar, you don't have your facts straight, you are hurting fine christian people" routine.
I don't bother anymore, as mentioned on another thread, it's like being told to handfeed a crocodile, the croc eventually can't help himself and will bite.

Yes those lies we lived by for so many years became part of us and now we must fight them. I am amazed how grown people who are secure in their lives will become six years old again when one of the "adults" from childhood walks in the door. "Train up a child" they did and now we work a life time to undo it.

The croc may look dead but can eat you in a minute. Missions may look and sound harmless until they get you where they can devour you.

I thought that what happened when a lawsuit is filed and then stops short of gong to court was called mediation, also. It can have a confidentiality clause.
I wasn't aware that other Fanda MKs have gone for mediation without filing a case.
And I wonder how many of them succeeded in getting anywhere.
Or were they told they were lying, etc?
How hard is it to get NTM to listen to you nowadays--and to believe you?
Maybe not much has changed?
