Why Thank you, Another MK. How was your Easter?

Mine? Oh I won't bore you with the details. Let just say I went out of town for a few days and two memorable nights. Having done shift work for 30 years, I'd forgotten that most Kiwis also go out of town on long weekends and we even have traffic jams on the one main highway up the coast. Complicating this was that summer forgot to end and the weather is stunningly perfect and there was an airshow near our destination, so I also found out what a "No Vacancy" sign means. Luckily, being the highly organised individual that I tend to be (or somewhat obsessive if you ask Mrs Bemused :? ), I had put a mattress in the back of the Toyota Corolla. This of course is great fun when you are newly weds, young, or single, but at the ripe old age of ##, I managed to count every sheep in New Zealand, then shear them and personally name them, before drifting off to sleep, feeling jealous at the blissful sleep of Mrs Bemused. I did manage to get my "smart phone" to send out the odd message, but "smart phones" operated by "not so smart Bemused" tend to make for short posts and e-mails.

Anyway, it would appear I am now back, the weather is still glorious, I could do with a good nights sleep and some back therapy. Did I miss anything, while I was away?

Bemused, that sounds like a memorable weekend! :) Glad you had that mattress! lol

I am feeling a bit like an Easter failure...I am still feeling fairly under the weather and am not having a lot of extra energy to invest in traditional Easter activities. But I am hoping for a good night's rest so I can do some things tomorrow with the kids...well, the two that I still have anyway, two of my boys left with DH on a trip today and they won't be back until Tuesday. They do not traditionally color Easter eggs in this part of the world and since my husband is also not American, neither do we (most of the time), but we might do that tomorrow if we can as a fun activity to remember our American roots. lol

Otherwise, I will be resting as much as possible, although I suspect I might get company later if some friends drop by like they have said they might.

I vaguely remember eggs being painted on the field, it's not a custom here. We mostly all pack up and go on the last holiday before the colder weather starts and gorge ourselves on chocolate.

Have now caught up on sleep and consigned the days of sleeping in the back of a small hatchback car to the distant past :o

I have very mixed feelings about coloring eggs...my kids love it, but yeah, it's not the custom in other countries, so how much to insist on keeping this tradition or not? I have mostly landed on a happy medium, we dye eggs when we are in the U.S. I did not dye them yesterday, some friends came over, so I just left it since we wouldn't have been able to do it quietly on our own.

I have some other friends who bring in plastic eggs every year for a big Easter event for the local kids in their ministry, but I really wonder about it...the kids love it, obviously, but I do wonder what kind of message is being sent?

Here where we're at, the Easter holidays is a time to head to the beach...now that sounds like a plan! :)

Rest In Peace Margaret Thatcher:

While not everyone agreed with her politics, she got things done and was not called "The Iron Lady" for nothing.

Going back to the Croc analagy. Margaret Thatcher would have walked up to the Croc and said "get your act together or else!". On the next offense she would have said, "O.k. boys, watch how I deal with this" as she grabbed the Croc in a stranglehold and choked the stuffing out of the Croc, then swung it by the tail till it confessed every last sin. Then she would have picked up her handbag and walked calmly away.
No one doubted who was in charge and no one doubted that problems wouldn't be sorted.

Rest In Peace.

Imagine Margaret Thatcher
Arriving at the Pearly Gate
"Don't you look at me St. Peter
And dare tell me I'm the late"

Then she'd look around
And see offenders of mission fame
Demanding "Who the hell let them in?"
The woman who no one could tame

Then she'd be grabbing each one
By their delicate little ear
And heaving them out
To an amazed but rowdy cheer

St. Peter would no doubt protest
But forgiveness she don't throw about
For when it comes to Margaret Thatcher
One strike and you're out!

Hope she's having a word with St. Peter
Saying look at Bemused doing his best
When he finally kicks the bucket
Get him up here for eternal rest ;)

Yes, the Iron Lady will no doubt put in a good word for the hard-working Kiwi MK in shorts!

When I was young I wanted to be just like the Iron Lady.
Maybe there is time yet!

RIP Baroness!
