Damn!!! I've blown my chance of Sainthood with my bod spilling again. Must try hearter to spill right in fature.

The Graham Capill scandal rocked the nation, for here was the moral pillar of the country caught doing far worse than what he was preaching so vehemently against. He single handedly managed to destroy the credibility of a whole Christian policital party.

What was disturbing was who leapt to his defence, even though he was proven guilty beyond shadow of a doubt by a jury. And yes of course he showed remorse and no doubt the call to forgive and forget was made.
What of his victim/s? Probably forgotten about, expected to forgive and forget and will never be the same?

Hey but at least the Prodical one returned to the fold and we should all give thanks, right? Not in the Bemused book, if someone sexually abuses a minor, put them in a fold of adults who know their history and will have them under close inspection. Only a fool would let them back into a fold with children again!

Disgusting!

Of course it is disgusting. But it won't be an isolated case, just look at all the court cases of priests, pastors, youth workers going through the courts now.

So how did it happen? Because we are naive. A man puts on a nice suit, speaks lovely religous words and a little twinkle happens when he smiles with his lovely polished teeth. He has not a hair out of place and looks good. He is Caesar and beyond reproach and he is trusted implicitly and he knows it and it is the key to the door of exploitation.
Meanwhile at the back of the church a drunk staggers in, fag hanging out of the mouth, reeking of booze and we move our children away from him (and closer to the pastor) because he fits our stereotype of someone who can't be trusted.

Sometimes the Devil is not the drunk who staggers in late, it's the smooth operator at the front of the church, in the nice suit with the million dollar smile (that you probably paid for) and the real reason he is there is because he knows he has a good chance of doing what he really wants and you'll never realise until it is too late, if ever.

Yes! That's it. Very powerful message.
