Bemused, I shed a mother's tears, for a woman who has lost her son and does not know why.

This, for me, remains one of the saddest parts of your personal story. Your mother. Because I am a mother of two sons who give me so much love and joy. That bond between you and your mother has been severed, and every time I let myself feel that pain I want to cry.

I also want to scream, because I feel so much anger over the unfairness of this. Your mother is just one more victim of the abusive environment that was the New Tribes Mission of yesterday. The environment in which we all once lived.

Where men had the power, and used it to manipulate, control, deceive and abuse. To satisfy their own lusts, whether those were for pleasure or for power.

So many people (of all ages) had their voices stifled, and lost track of who they were and what they needed. They needed safety and acceptance and unconditional love. That is not what they got, but the environment was so subtly toxic that many of us were dying of asphyxiation and didn't even realize it.

Holiday jolliness is elusive this year. There are just too many reminders of what a broken, broken world we all live in. Small children are giggling in their classrooms one minute and are shredded by multiple bullets the next. As horrified as I have been over what happened in Connecticut, I will say that my mind has returned over and over to this other horror I deal with every day. Other small children, years ago, also thought they were safe. Their parents thought they were safe. But they too were wounded. They didn't stop breathing though. They are still alive today, and their pain goes on, and one, and on. Endlessly. Which kind of injury is worse?

It's all madness. All of it.

It is the season of goodwill and reflection. And I would like to peronally acknowledge the true friend that I have found in yourself. For through the ups and downs you have kept me company, we have laughed together at the crazyness, finding humour where many would fear to tred. And we have mourned the loss of so many good years for so many MKs. Your care not to ridicule the crazy ideas of one Bemused is most appreciated and your faith that mountains could at least be pushed in the right direction inspirational.

Your words of wisdom have been inspiring and your tenacity to see a better life for others is a testament to a friend of true quality.

May your Christmas with your family be all you wish it to be and in the New Year may you achieve goals beyond your wildest expectations.

Bemused I am so sorry that this time of year has so many bad emotions. I'm sorry I can't do anything to help.

It is so frustrating and it makes me angry that so many MKs have a miserable every year, many since they were children. It makes me want to send to all those who abused and those who are covering up the abuse a card that says may your Christmas be miserable like the Christmas season is for many MK.

Just watched the Its a Very Merry Muppet Christmas movie. We will go on regardless of the Rachel Bittermans out there. We many not have the theater in the end but we have each other. They can't take that away from us. Bemused, Raz, and the rest of you out there you are Kermits and are make the world a better place for many.

Oh well at least one good thing this Christmas, with so many people reading this excellent forum and just a few of us posting, we can send our Christmas greetings via this site and save on postage .

After all for those of us who live in the little country at the bottom of the world, we all know each other and with the ex NTM grapevine working so efficiently, most will know who is who on this site.

So Merry Christmas to all Downunder, as you gather with your families may you take a moment to reflect on the past and look to where the future lies because of it.
