I've seen a couple of recent photos of men from my past and there they are with their arms round a child. These men are well and truly into retirement, but it never stops, it is an addiction to power or lust or both.
And yes even when they are in the retirement home, nurses put up with a lot of inappropriate behaviour and it isn't senility!
A creepy poem, yes. Alas an accurate one too.

It's Thanksgiving soon, so here's to our Health Workers, who will probably be on duty as the rest of us tuck in.

The ultimate reaching out in love....

Oh I don't love them, believe me. But they are humans who have become patients, I don't have to like them and as I "love" very few people, that ain't a consideration. But to treat them as humans who have medical needs, that is my professional responsibility. It's an interesting position to be put in, especially as they have no idea of what my background is when it comes to child abuse and the organisations that have a track record of it.
When I don the uniform, I can be someone who is considerably more confident than in civilian gear, interesting that one, but don't have time to explain the ins and outs, so will save it for another time.

Well, call it 'doing your responsibilities' then.

As you have seen--
"Calling out in love" can mean a variety of things here.

Bemused may not think he is showing love but that is how it will be received. This is my first year of health issues and the doctors and nurses acted how I think Bemuse acts in his profession. The nurses especially were just wonderful to me. This is the first year my husband has had some health issues and he has had the same experience. Our daughter in America is a nurse and when I meet people that she has been involved with they say how wonderful she is so I think the Lord showered us with the same kind of treatment. Full stop.

Empathy is the word I'd use. Infuse a bit of humour (when appropriate), a dose of professional know how with some good old fashioned hard work and that is pretty much it for being a nurse. Only on the odd occassion when one is required to look after one of lifes bad apples, I find I operate with less empathy, little humour, the same amount of professional knowhow and good old fashioned hard work.

It is a bit like Fanda Eagles really, except of course we don't have bad apples on this site (but we have invited them, due to our benovelent natures ), we just discuss them.
