Very true. As the good book says "you are either for Me or against Me". Or put in the context we find ourselves, "one either is against child abuse or is supportive of it". By putting the issue in front of those who say they do not know, we remove the fence they are sitting on.
If someone who has been or is a member of an organisation that has harboured paedophiles and they have an unclear past and say things like, "it is no concern of mine", then they are hardly standing against child abuse, which if the fence they might have been sitting on has been removed, only leaves them on one side of the equation, AND IT IS THE WRONG SIDE!
Because we were all involved, whether by choice or accident of birth, we are obligated to make a stand for or against. Victims have some leeway, because of what they are or have been through. Active or previously active adults in such organisations do not have that same leeway, they made the choice to enter such organisations, they made the choice to stay or go and now they are morally obliged to either stand against child abuse and/or paedophiles or have it assumed publicly that they are participants in the crimes either through neglect of duty or actual involvement.
And the higher up the chain of command one is, the louder one needs to be heard doing all they can to support the end of child abuse and to clean up the mess of the past.

Those are some hard-hitting words. And true ones.

I wish the ones who need to be reading them were part of the thousands of eyes reading here. But I doubt it.

Oh I wouldn't be so sure . While they might not be reading themselves, it is all being reported up and down the chain. We is just rattling that chain.

Trust me, the feedback that filters down to this obscure part of the globe is that we are being noticed, observed and discussed.
The Penn State scandal, the Jimmy Saville scandal and the Boy Scouts debarcle have increased the awareness for us. I'm getting quite a bit of positive feedback for the efforts we are making.

So take heart, wave and keep the momentum going .

The name of the person who made this straight-forward, hard-hitting statement is Julia Gillard.

I don't even need to climb up on my soapbox. You all know where I'm going with this ...

As a humble specimen of the other gender, I sit at the foot of your soapbox and listen. Over the last year I have come to admire the support you have offered so many and your dedication to make this world a better place by ensuring that through justice being served that this scandal never takes place again.

If you have a moment, I'm sure Julia would love to have a message of support from another woman of great courage, especially one who has personal involvement with this issue. Never underestimate what a message sent to someone at the very top of the political world can do, believe me the message gets through and unlike "Crossview", replies are often forthcoming.
