Oh the stories Mr Blond and Mrs Bemused would have to talk about, they could be there for weeks, comparing notes

I regularly remind Mrs Bemused how lucky she is to have someone with such a unique background as I, she points out that I am a unique work in progress and she still has some way to go before she can be considered lucky to have me.

However if Mr Blond is as kind and understanding, with a good sense of humour as Mrs Bemused is, then you are truly as fortunate as I.

It may seem a bit odd to post the following under Sayings of the Wise, but my 16 year old daughter wrote this for school. At school she is know as the buddha...or wise one. I love her.


Don’t judge a book by its cover. This advice is given many times over, but how many times has it been taken into consideration. Looks come first. If a girl looks like a hoe then she suddenly is. If a guy has his pants hanging low and hat turned to the side he’s instantly a gangbanger. It’s all right. It’s human nature. They say first impressions are made in the first three seconds after meeting the person. And aren’t these “covers” usually correct? No.

My mom was the child, along with five other brothers and one sister, of missionaries. They traveled lots of places, met many people, and discovered many cultures. They were spreading the word of God under their wonderful church. Everything was fine and dandy, right? Well here comes that saying, don’t judge a book by it cover, to destroy that flowery life.

My uncle Jon seems like a normal guy. He has a wonderful family to call his own and lives in a nice house in Florida and has a good paying job. Who would of known he was targeted as a child, along with many others, with abuse and mistreatment. For being a kid he was beaten until black and blue and humiliated in front of others, but the thing is he got the least of it.

The “many others” received worse: Sexual assaults, and repeated emotional and physical abuse. These people look like normal people but deep inside they carry a huge burden. We are blinded by their shiny covers and pick them off the shelf. When we finally look past those “covers” we see the horrid experience they went through. “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” This is my advice to you. Will you be the person who listens?
