Meanwhile, back in the U.S., everything is great.

Notice the difference between how NTM in Sanford describes Manaus to be within a yard of hell, and notice how Missao Novas Tribos do Brasil's Facebook page provides contact and link information with tourist sites in Manaus.....completely different. One group (Sanford) wants to make it look like Timbuktu.....the other group (the Brazilians) seem to be trying to highlight cool things to do in Manaus.

Wonder why that is?

New Tribes doesn't even name Manaus in the mission news update posted today.
That's odd, since it has a population of 1,802,014.
You would think a city of that size would at least get a mention, especially being one yard from hell.
There are only four U.S. cities with more people than Manaus (NY, LA, Chicago and Houston)

But it's easier to maintain the impression of being one yard from hell if you don't name it.
To find the name of the city the missionaries work in, you have to look up their individual page on the ntm website.

Did I get it right this time....here is what one yard from hell looks like.

This is the very center of hell, in Manaus, where New Tribes missionaries go to suffer and die.

Although living here does make me long for Heaven….or at least Mayberry…something inside me has given me hope, purpose, renewed strength when mine is exhausted, and even joy amidst the unpleasant realities.

Actually, since you're on the banks of the Amazon, what boat does he pilot?

The large boat that New Tribes Mission owns and operates to make life easier for missionaries and their school children in Brazil is out of commission.

Not mechanically, but legally.

A few months ago the boat that is known as "the launch" was on its way home from a shopping trip when it was stopped by authorities.

"As it turned out," wrote Joel and Angela Ketcham, "the paperwork was never done properly and it is now illegal for us to use it in town. So the mission is now in the process of trying to get it all legal."

So, doing the New Tribes math, Manaus is a yard from hell. Leaving Manaus, you have two options: the fuzzy, wuzzy green jungle which provides oxygen for Al Gore and others, and then you have the small little creek known as the Amazon, with 28 billion gallons per second of flow. So, since the green jungle is warm and fuzzy, hell must be the Amazon, with piranhas (no pun intended) and other critters. If the devil is more associated with hell, and hell is the river, would the devil use a boat? If so, would the devils' boat be licensed correctly, or would it be illegal like NTM's (see above)?

There's this other little village called Rio de Janeiro.............oooh, boy......
it's actually 4:12 from Manaus, on an Airbus 320, so that probably covers that remaining yard and then some............

Well, let's try Sao Paulo.........that's just a 50 minute flight from Santos Dumont to Congonhas....surely, if Manaus is a yard from hell, we have to find hell somewhere in Brazil.

I'm still not finding hell, not even in Sao Paulo.
Where should we go to find hell. Remember, New Tribes says Manaus, Brazil, is one yard from hell.
