That was hard to listen to, but well worth it. Thanks for posting it.
As one victim said, when feeling physically threatened for speaking up about the abuse, "You know, You can die a day at a time"...or you can face what happened and deal with it and do what's right (even, in her case, when it meant the threat of death).

Journey, I to remember being terrified of my "sins" and not being able to remember them so as I could ask forgiveness before communion at boarding school.

I recall one such occasion in the Numonohi gym, eyes shut desperately asking forgiveness for my "sins" and what my abuser was doing to me. Someone next to me tapped my arm....I opened my eyes to find my abuser and his evil eyes in front of me waiting to serve me with the communion glasses.

I doubt he ever sought forgiveness from God for anything.......he wasn't that type of person...and there he was serving me communion.

What can I say.......

Yes, it was difficult to listen to but it shows that there is a life after speaking out about the atrocities committed by pedophiles. There is such a fear about speaking out and the perceived stigma that may come with it. Speaking out may open the doors to the journey that brings new life.....there IS life after death for all of us who have suffered such terrible histories. The people who spoke about their histories were brave individuals who faced their histories against the odds. The truth is out there and so is HOPE.

We were all so earnest, and so impressionable.

I do hope there is an especially harsh judgement for the adults who hurt innocent little ones under the roofs of churches and missions and other places where Jesus' love is taught (like Christian homes). SO confusing to little ones!

Horrible, Radioshack, I would have jumped out of my skin... More like it...peed my pants. Ugh.. an abuser serving communion

I felt uncomfortable when we went down to the river and watched as MK's were baptised by an abuser.
Communion always made me feel uncomfortable as the words of doom echoed around the chapel and I tried to think of all the sins that I might have done, that if I didn't confess I'd be struck down by devine retributive action.
Conseqently I've often wondered how many of us "believe" because we are too scared not to, instead of "believeing" because it was so wonderfully obviously true. And if the former was true, does the explain why the "Great Commission" is so slow in reaching "the last tribe"?
