According to NTM member, Marvary Fletcham, NTM USA will be encouraging new missionary recruits to join a "new work" in a new tribal location near Orlando, FL. According to Marvary, this new work will be "ideal for those with little to no language learning aptitude as the predominant language spoken within the tribe is English".
When asked about some of the unique challenges missionaries will face within the tribe, Marvary responded, "well, I think a major challenge will be convincing some of the tribal members that they are not already saved. Also, one of the challenges may be that several tribal members know the Chron better than the missionaries". When asked if a new approach, other than the Chron, will be used, Marvary responded, "we may consider it, but that would make alot of people really nervous and we don't generally encourage our people to think outside of the Chron".
As part of a unique pilot program, individual tribal members will be eligible to receive tax free donations through NTM's website, "NTM.org". "We want tribal members to live similarly to the missionaries", explained Marvary. When asked why the website lists these tribal members as "missionaries", Marvary did not have an immediate response. However, a mission spokeperson later explained that, although these people are not technically "missionaries", people were not likely to give donations unless they are "labelled as such".
When asked why the website is soliciting $500,000 for a new church for the tribe, the spokeperson explained that "while it may seem premature and somewhat excessive, we are a faith based organization. Why ask people for what you need when you can ask them for what God wants you to have above and beyond what you would ever ask him for...if you do not ask, you will not receive". When asked to clarify the last statement, the spokeperson responded that she would "get back to us shortly, after holding a worldwide conference in Singapore to discuss the intention behind the question".
