Not to be gross, but has anyone seen The Help?

When I was a little lad
My father was the man
And follow him we did
For he held the master plan

Mum and the siblings
We trotted faithfully behind
As he traveled far and wind
Others the truth to help to find

For he battled evil
And brought the world "The Light"
We were his little soldiers
Who fought "The Good Fight"

But somewhere, somehow
Something went a stray
And right became wrong
So that night was now day

Maybe it was the evil of others
Who were supposed to be good
But were caught doing things
That no Christian ever should

And somehow our paternal hero
Choose to cover up their sin
Closing both ears in the process
And applying religous spin

But the years have had their toll
The sin is for all to see
The questions about the cover ups
Are being asked by you and me

And the once fearless warrior
Is telling lies to protect his back
Which gives all that he ever did
A credibility sad lack

The lies are stacking up
No one believes what they are told
And we ask him alas
For what has his soul been sold

Now when he looks behind him
There are no little soldiers dear
Just his own sword to fall on
To make the truth reappear

Heartbreaking

Absolutely!
And there are still nagging questions in our hearts:
What happened to my child?????

I would have protected him if I had known.
I thought I was on top of all that was going on.
What makes him so afraid even to this day?

Now I find that there were some who knew how to deal with the abuse.
And they were shipped off.
"Leaders" who were no leaders would not listen.
Any who stood up for truth or who lived in reality
Were trampled on.
Stamped out.
Those who left are the real heroes.

What happened to my child???

My dear MB,

I don't have children, so I can't in all sincereity say I fully understand your anguish. But when I see some of those close to me and the lives they lead there are to many odd things that don't add up, unless something has gone dramatically wrong in their pasts too.
Sadly some of them will stumble on for many a year, to afraid to look back at the horror and confront it. Some have blocked it out as best they can, only to have it rear its ugly head at and in most unpredictable ways.
To answer your question, what happened to your child? I don't know, but we both fear the worst, for we know where we were and who shared our space when we were there. But my unqualified advice would be to be there when and if the time comes when the tears begin and the healing finally starts. Always let your child know you love them and your door is open whenever they need it.
Your child already has one great advantage, you care enough to air your concern. If only I had had a parent who had the courage you have, but mine just said "it is no concern of mine" and for that comment alone I will never love him or respect him again.
Your child is not alone, they have you ready and waiting and for that you have my ultimate respect and admiration.
