I've almost lost sleep trying to remember your dog's name. Leo it is. Yes, too bad you can't post the pictures as he sure is a cute dog, might be even clever like his chauffeur.

Of course he's smarter than I am. He's not the one who drove the bike into what was supposed to be a small puddle and ended up being a small lake of dubious post earthquake water, this morning! He also wishes to point out that when I cycle by myself, I am just another middleaged bloke on a bike, who nobody takes any notice of, but when he is on the back, motorists are very polite and pretty girls come up and talk to him, take his picture e.t.c. Thirdly he wishes to point out that when he is on the back of the bike, we are the only cyclists on the rural roads who are not dive bombed by territorial magpies at nesting time (obnoxious, bad tempered birds about the size of a seagull).

Hey, I know all about magpies, they are a protected species here suppose there as well. Actually magpies and NTM have a lot in common.

Ha, ha We have two species of Magpies over here, the lovely well mannered native ones and the loud obnoxious Australian ones. They aren't protected and if they become a problem (which any cyclist without a dog will testify too) they can be disposed of. We also have a possum problem, which is another Australian import (and protected there), that is a major pest, but we make into lovely garments when combined with wool. We won't mention the rabbits that the British sent us!

I wouldn't possibly know why NTM and magpies are similar , you'll have to explain that one.

So on this thread we have gone from the serious, to talking about a dog who rides a bike and obnoxious birds, never a dull moment. Can't wait for the next instalment.

P.s. do they have Magpies in the U.S.?

How are magpies like NTM. Well, let's see, like you said they are obnoxious, they attack without warning, they attack the innocent (like people on bicycles), they are a protected species (by the government, not loyalists and solicitors), they are actually quite hated by some and quite loved by others, they can never be eradicated legally, they are not a beautiful bird, they are mean spirited, they don't want you to succeed (like doing garden work, delivering the mail, going for walks, like I said riding bicycles, just basically minding your own business), they think they own everything including the skies, they are arrogant as they demand your hair, they take and never give anything in return, it takes a lot of gear to protect yourself from them (sunglasses, hats that have eyes on the back of them, no skin exposed). Better quit as I have housework to do. Full stop.

I knew you would come up with a good one. To answer your former question, do magpies live in the United States, I think their habitat is at Sanford, Florida only. Full stop.
