The Boundaries book is really good on this subject. I myself am responsible for what I let in and what I let out. I am responsible for my attitudes. If I'm letting in too much of an area that upsets me emotionally and doesn't take me where I need to go, I need to control that input. Not that I should ignore it - because there is a reason why it upsets me emotionally and it needs to be dealt with - but some things can only be taken in small spoonfuls.

Wow, Sherpa ... what a life you have lived!!! Amazing experiences ... scary ones too. God has had His hand on you through it all, and you are special to Him ... and so loved.
The redemptive process is so amazing to me. I watched this take place in my daughters. The Enemy got them by the throat too, and tried to strangle the very life out of them. It was like God let him do it too, for a while ... I'm still not sure why God was okay with that, because they (and all the rest of us) went through hellacious years. But redemption ... yes ... He never really let go, and slowly, steadily, lovingly brought them back. Because they were His all along.
All the glory goes to Him alone!

Rage is non productive. That is true without question. Actually it is somewhat productive if you want to make others do what you want them to do by using fear to manipulate them. Anger to can be non-productive if that is all you have to go on. Rage is like tnt while anger can be like jet fuel. Both powerful forces, but not what you want to use to work in the garden.

Knowing the truth about what you are facing is important. Knowing the healing process, knowing the people who support you, and knowing the people who don't. Sometimes it is hard to know the difference.

I have anger for and mistrusted of NTO, because of a number of experiences with them in the past. Currently I have a family friend who was abused while a member of NTO. I cannot tell you more than that, except to say that it is still an ongoing cover up within NTO. The family friend suggested I tell their story. I won't do that for a number of reasons, the greatest of which is that it is their story. This person's story is known to several other members of this forum.

This may sound like I am trying to encite rage to some. I am not. I do want anyone who is seeking help to heal from NTO to know that nto is willing to dismiss and cover up abuse, even now, when it servers their purpose. Rage is not productive in this case. Even anger with no objective is useless. Anger gets you motivated, but it will not sustain any long term battle. I get angry about the family friend's story, but only calm calculated working together will solve the problem. Most of you may never know this persons story, which is exactly as nto wants it. I am telling you, be careful and undertand who is across the table from you.

It is my deepest hope that this person will someday soon tell their story. If this story does not deeply impact missionaries and their supporters, then they have hearts of stone. If anyone who knows what I am talking about wants to say they know as well, it might be helpful for those who think I am just attacking nto.

I hope you will reconsider. I have never felt that you've been hateful to anyone posting here, just frustrated and angry from the pain of your past and NTM's seeming desire to sweep it all under the rug. You have been an encouragement to me and I bet many others. God bless, brother!

Hey, Sherpa, don't leave! For one thing, your "nickname" is creative - but for another, you lend perspective. Yes, I've seen that you kind of fly off the handle at times, but you're not the first and I hope won't be the last. And I've also seen you apologize. It doesn't mean you have to always be on, but I'd hate to see a whole bunch of people like me filling this forum. You're comments give those who need it a way to vent with you, I'll bet, because not everyone writes here, in case you've not noticed. And you make those of us with a "wait, let's think about this" philosophy really evaluate what if we're waiting out of wisdom or out of cowardice. If you're leaving because you've just moved on, or need to take a break, well, then, go ahead, I get that - done that too. But if you're leaving because you think you're too hotheaded, too blasty for this forum, dream on, i've seen much worse. Either way, it's been good to see you on here, even if for just a few days, in my case.
