Message: Now that the report from Grace on Senegal is out, what do you plan on doing about what happened at Aritao? The victims still suffer...

Dedicated to all the precious little girls at Aritao. I remember this was the song you always wanted to sing at our Tuesdays night meetings. Now I think I know why.

"You said You'd come and share all my sorrows,
You said You'd be there for all my tomorrows;
I came so close to sending You away,
But just like You promised You came there to stay;
I just had to pray!

And Jesus said, "Come to the water, stand by My side,
I know you are thirsty, you won't be denied;
I felt ev'ry teardrop when in darkness you cried,
And I strove to remind you that for those tears I died."

Your goodness so great I can't understand,
And, dear Lord, I know that all this was planned;
I know You're here now, and always will be,
Your love loosed my chains and in You I'm free;
But Jesus, why me?

And Jesus said, "Come to the water, stand by My side,
I know you are thirsty, you won't be denied;
I felt ev'ry teardrop when in darkness you cried,
And I strove to remind you that for those tears I died."

Jesus, I give You my heart and my soul,
I know that without God I'd never be whole;
Savior, You opened all the right doors,
And I thank You and praise You from earth's humble shores;
Take me, I'm Yours.

And Jesus said, "Come to the water, stand by My side,
I know you are thirsty, you won't be denied;
I felt ev'ry teardrop when in darkness you cried,
And I strove to remind you that for those tears I died."

I have not forgotten you!
Aunt R.

The perp was a textbook Groomer.

HOW THEY ENTICE and ENSNARE:
Some volunteer their services to groups serving youth. Often, they relate
well to children, easily gaining their trust and friendship and may also
befriend their parents. Children have an insatiable need for care and
attention and pedophiles use it to abuse them. They are masters at verbal
manipulation. Most offences against children are premeditated and it is rare
that a pedophilic offender spontaneously molests a child.
GROOMING THEIR TARGETS:
When hunting prospective children to abuse, they tend to choose vulnerable
children; i.e. those from divorced homes and children who are emotionally
needy or unhappy; the quiet ones. They also target children from certain
types of families; i.e. single parents, homes where parents are often absent
(Always too busy with the mission in this case).
First, they usually test the child’s ability to keep secrets and reward them
for doing so. They subtly grow closer to the child. They may attempt to
change the way the child views her parents; i.e. as infringing on the child’s
personal freedom. They may give the child liberties her parents would not
approve of; i.e. smoking, drinking, watching pornography. They attempt to
create a mental environment where the child sees the pedophile as the
person who trusts and cares for her the most. The grooming process may
take up to a year.
Doing things her parents would not approve of virtually insures that the
victim will not go home and tell, enabling the pedophile to feel safe in
acting out his fantasies. This keeps the victim captive to the pedophile’s
sick desires, and leads to the initial undressing and fondling attack. Once
the child voluntarily engages in oral sex (usually for a bribe), she will most
likely be in a position where telling is almost impossible. When the child
can’t tell without incriminating herself, she often gives up any resistance,
her spirit is broken, and she becomes mentally resigned to doing whatever her
pedophile friend asks. Some learn to disassociate themselves from the
“crazy acts” her pedophile “friend” wants her to do (going "away" from herself).
Most abusers are liars, and some are angry and physically abusive...so that
the children are controlled by the anger and the pain of physical abuse.
Some photograph the children and may even market the photos.

In Aritao... Textbook Groomer. By the numbers.

My Friend has broken her silence... Thursday, Sept 16th... Posted in this topic and God leads through leadership

Hmmm....this was cut off on the side but i get the jist... who the heck is this Red Baron person? A blind person? A seeing person wearing rose tinted glasses? I appreciate that h/she is "defending" NTM but really? No one has said that the core of what NTM was based on, witnessing for Christ and winning souls to Jesus was anything to be brought down. I think Red Baron missed the point. NTM, I believe, was based on Godly principles but like any other organization/government/group, it's leadership is comprised of HUMANS- and as humans, there is no way mistakes can't be made - I think this person missed the point that what is being asked for is "simple" - maybe that's the wrong term- maybe clear is more accurate. OWN UP TO THE MISTAKES, STOP COVERING FOR THOSE WHO DID WRONG, DO WHATEVER IS HUMANLY POSSIBLE TO RIGHT THE WRONG and above all, DON'T LET HISTORY REPEAT ITSELF-EVER. NOT NOW, NOT TOMORROW, NOT EVEN 3 HOURS FROM NOW. No one has said there aren't good people within NTM or its leadership. I believe it was posted even that there are good people still within NTM- my parents were part of that organization, and they were good people- I swear my mom has and dad had the biggest heart out there for the people- possibly to a fault, but I've never met anyone with bigger hearts than theirs. No one is discounting what they did as missionaries, or down playing what other missionaries are doing for the Lord. But the ends does not justify the means. Turning a blind eye to what was done, sweeping it under the rug, taking no action - is the same as condoning what happened. Act now, ask forgiveness later is NOT an option when it comes to these types of incidents...especially when history has proven to repeat itself both in the field and in corporate leadership. I wonder, if NTM Sanford leadership had had one of their own daughters/sons as a victim, how different a reaction would have taken place? Would there not have been swift justice from the perp being dismissed/fired to criminal charges filed to the full extent of the law? Would they have not made sure that that person was registered on every possible sex offenders list nation wide, if not world wide? So why, then, was that type of action NOT taken when the first reports were submitted, when the first suspicions were raised? The Bible itself says Children are a gift from the Lord, who are we as parents, to take that so lightly? I feel for those parents who did go to leadership and were basically snuffed out. Those in leadership should be the first to step up and protect the innocent, fight and protect those who cannot fight for themselves, for those Leaders are carrying the responsibility of guidance, direction, and even protection of so many lives! Leadership in an organization where God is supposed to be the ultimate leader and Head, means that they should be striving to live the ultimate godly, Spirit-filled lives, where Christ exudes from every cell in their being. And Christ did not push away or turn away the children that came to Him- in fact, he reprimanded the disciples for trying to do so - so then why does the NTM Leadership by covering up what went on, not investigating other cases in other fields, in effect, turn away Christ's children? Where is the Christ-like attitude and Spirit in those actions?

I'll shut up now, because my soap box is getting bigger....

There are several survivors from Aritao. Will no one speak up?

Mahal Ko, every day I check this forum to see if anyone else from Aritao is going to speak up. Silence, yes. And you are right, there are many survivors of LE's abuse. Even the kids in his care who were not sexually molested were deeply, traumatically affected by things they witnessed in that dorm, "vibes" they sensed. Not just the girls, but the boys too.
In reading the posts from other adult MKs elsewhere in the forum, I am seeing more clearly that there were other adults who were abusive on "The Hill" too, in emotional, physical and spiritual ways. Adults who were entrusted with the nurturing and teaching of our children. Adults who should not have qualified to be trusted with precious young, vulnerable children. My children. Lots of sadness in my heart over that.
As for why none of the other survivors are speaking up, I can only tell you what I know about two of them. One of them dissociated from the molestation to such a degree that she still to this day does not remember what L did to her. So she feels she has nothing helpful to contribute, but she does know that she is one of the Aritao survivors. The other one has built up such high walls of emotional protection around herself and her private, safe world that she is not even AWARE of the firestorm sweeping over NTM over this world-wide issue. She doesn't know, and she doesn't want to know. It's safer that way.
My heart continues to be filled with the deepest of grief over all this, and my eyes are once again swimming with tears.
Raz
