I am not personally aware of the details regarding Art Gualteri but if the things posted on this thread are accurate, I'd say that NTEC and the Thailand Field Committee are getting pretty good marks. Children in the dorm reported questionable deportment to leadership, leadership listened, investigated and took steps to prevent potentially abusive situations from developing.

In our twenty five years of association with NTM in Thailand, we were never aware of any cases of abuse in the dorm or in the school. Since our kids were not in the school or the dorm, our knowledge can hardly be considered complete. Still, even granting the truth of all that has been posted so far, NTM missionaries in Thailand have much to be thankful for.

I attended NTEC from about 1982 to 1985 and overall, it was a great experience. I had hard-working, caring dorm parents and teachers and special opportunities: swimming lessons, sports, music, piano. I am thankful for the friends and the enrichment and the stories I have to tell my kids. It helped me grow up, learn new skills, take responsibility, and develop independence. Thank you, faculty and staff at NTEC, for the job you did.

Along with the previous poster, I would also generally give NTEC in Thailand high marks. Great education. Generally, very respectful staff and good dorm parents. Of course, not everything was perfect along the way and others' experiences may have been worse than mine. In general, I think very highly of 80% of the staff that were there during my maximum tenured experience. At the very least, I am fairly confident that there was no ongoing, systematic abuse. And, it appears that the situations that did arise were addressed.

Having said that, I think that the risks were not managed appropriately and would recommend the implementation of some well thought out policies aimed at severely reducing the risk. I have some ideas on that, but have a feeling most would perceive them as too aggressive.

My head is not spinning and I enjoyed your first post. Enjoyed seems like the wrong word, but the last two paragraphs especially gave voice to thoughts I keep having as I read and read and read and think and think and think all over this site.

Mars my head is not spinning either but that doesn`t mean we both are not nuts.
