There is one difference with IHART.
ntm HAS the info that IHART gathered!
They can do what they want with all of it.

In the ABWE and BJU cases---the info has to be kept confidential---even from the institution.
So it was gathered for naught. Just to make the institution look good.

But what is ntm going to DO with all the IHART info??????
That no one else will ever see?

GRACE will keep the confidentiality of the victims. If one of the victims reported abuse that could be reported to authorities GRACE would have to report it and I know they would. But so many individual states have Statutes of Limitations so reporting it would do no good. I also believe that there is no law that requires reporting abuse that is past the SOL. There are many people working in many states to change that. Some have been successful to lengthen it in some states. But there is a long way to go.

I can't imagine the anger and sorrow of those from GRACE who realizing all their efforts and work over the last 13 months were useless. I hope that those who interviewed at least found some hope in that they were believed and GRACE cared about them. GRACE you are thanked by all who have been abused for working so hard for us.

You notice this was not a mission but a school which has been accused of abuse. There are also now many from churches and "Christian reform institutions, boarding schools" where abuse is being reported. As MK I think we have exposed what evil missions have done when they opened Pandora's box. They opened the box but forgot that Hope was at the bottom of the jar. We cling to that hope.

Tamara's article/blog post spoke to me, because I have personally experienced the stress of putting my faith in the legal system only to feel let down by it.

It wasn't really that the system was abusive. But I had such high hopes that something could, and would, be done to bring the man who abused so many MKs in the Philippines to justice.

Many people invested a great deal in the effort. And in the end, we failed.

So now, it is hard for me not to feel betrayed, and cynical and defeated. Because my hopes were so high.

I am not saying we shouldn't keep trying. But I am saying, I now realize even when you try, even when you report, and you get law enforcement involved, and you succeed in finding victims who are willing to tell their story .... even when you think you're building a case, and something will finally be done .... even then, sometimes you fail.

And that failure has had a "traumatic impact" on me personally, to use words that Tamara used in her post.

But lets keep trying. Maybe after hitting our heads against one locked door after another, we will finally find a door that will actually swing open. For someone. Maybe not for me. Maybe for someone else.

So I am not giving up.

Status Update – February 13, 2014
During the past week, representatives of GRACE and BJU have continued to communicate for the purpose of working out a time for an in-person meeting. The parties were recently able to schedule such a meeting for next week. The purpose of this meeting is for the parties to articulate expressed concerns, as well as to dialogue about the possibility of GRACE completing the independent investigation process started last year. GRACE will post another update shortly after the meeting next week.
We ask for prayers for everyone involved in this upcoming meeting. We also ask that we continue to pray for God to work mightily on the behalf of all the amazing individuals who have been impacted by this most recent development.
