Just heard that apparently some sort of statement was put out yesterday by Larry Brown on the NTM member website. He said they can't give a lot of details due to the federal investigation...not sure if others have heard of this?

I love your use of the words "some sort of statement".

With NTM you never know what to expect really do you? Wonder if anyone can get their hands (or eyes) on this "some sort of statement".

Kind of convenient that they can't give a lot of details isn't it. Heck when they can they don't so blah blah blah.

This is refresher course week for many of the Ntmers on furlough stateside. It would be an ideal time to inform the members of the Scott Kennel arrest and be open and transparent with the course attendees. Yet I doubt anything will be brought up.

Could it be that some will leave there without knowing?

On Tuesday of this week I was at the grocery store and I just happened to run into someone who is on staff at the Language School here in Camdenton, MO. I asked them if they had heard about Scott Kennel. She told me that just that morning, they had received an email regarding Scott Kennel. So, not sure how many others received that email, but thought I would just pass that along.

Raz, I understand what you are saying about elimination. ABWE had an investigation by Showers Simms LLT outside of the GRACE investigation and found 9 cases of abuse. They named one who was found guilty which was Jay Walsh but they indicated all other abusers were either dead, retired, resigned or terminated. My husband immediately emailed them and said since they were not going to name the accused then they should name the innocent missionaries that were either dead, retired, resigned or terminated since we we terminated and that would put my husband in that category. He has since made another request for his name to be cleared but so far his request has not been granted. This makes me very upset as that is the least ABWE should do. I know my husband will not let this rest as he believes his name should be cleared. Full stop.

Pamela makes a very good point I think (along with Raz). I would agree that Pamelas' husbands name or reputation (and those of others) has been potentially tarnished by the actions of ABWE in their choice of who to name and what to leave unsaid. I understand it makes life easier for the mission, as it would for NTM in their case, but it causes a lot of grief and worry for other people. I am sorry this has happened to you and your husband Pamela and I hope it can be sorted out through your on-going efforts. I hope ABWE are more "open" than NTM, but from what I have read, it seems that may not be the case. We are on your side.

Protecting the guilty:

1) Casts a shadow over the reputation of good people.
2) Fosters an environment where more abuse can take place.
3) Is criminally negligent and morally wrong.
4) Sends the wrong messages to supporters.


So why do it?

1) Are we just privy to a small part of what is a problem of major magnitude?
2) Do those who protect the guilty have guilt of their own?
3) Are there financial interests involved, like lawyers who are making a good living out of this?
4) Is there blackmail involved, where the guilty are buying their freedom with a hold over others?

And who can fix this mess?

1) Probably not NTM, they have missed their golden opportunities.
2) Maybe God?
3) Definitely those who financially support NTM?
4) ? those with the power to arrest and investigate.
