"GRACE recommends that NTM review its current child protection policies." GRACE report, page 64
This certainly seems overdue. In fact, one has to wonder about the viability of an organization that requires a third party to tell it something so blatantly obvious.
I hope that any review and revision of current child protection policies will include a provision to report ALL cases of child abuse to local law enforecement agencies in the countries where the abuse occured, as well as in the passport country of the offender. This should be done whether or not such reports are strictly required by applicable laws.
I admit that some countries have very severe punishments for these crimes. All missionaries should be made aware of the possible punishments in their country of service, and warned that NTM will not assist them in avoiding the consequences of their actions.
If this seems frightening to missionaries who would engage in such actions, it should. Civil authorities are a terror to those who do evil (Romans 13.3).
