I concur with my learned friend Raz, your insight and communication ability is much appreciated.

I wonder how much truth has to leak out before the loyal dispossed say "enough is enough" and have the courage to walk away. Somehow I suspect that point will never be reached, for it seems almost a badge of honour to hang in till the bitter end. But at what cost and what will it be like to arrive at the Pearly Gates and find lesser mortals of less blind faith have made it within.

It took some pretty bad experiences for me to figure it out...we had to go through some tough times to see that we needed to leave. We had two pretty bad experiences, although we didn't realize how bad the first was until later. For some, though, that point may never come.

I was remembering today that when we wrote member care in Sanford to ask (and protest) about the letter/negative evaluation in our file that had been used to evaluate us in meetings on another field without our knowledge, the response we got was that they had 'seen worse' evaluations and that we should probably just eat humble pie and accept that what leadership had to say. Humble pie was mentioned a second time in a subsequent letter from the same guy in member care. I think it was at that point that I realized that we were never going to get anywhere...and boy was my husband MAD! We kind of laugh about it now, but at the time, it was pretty devastating to get such a cavalier response to that kind of abuse by leadership.

O.k., spill the beans, what on earth is "Member Care"? Let me guess it's a department that has been set up to "care for members"? Where you an go with your concerns and receive good honest advice and support. Am I close?

Now I do know what Humble Pie is, Mrs Bemused serves it on the odd occassion, it is an antidote for "to big for his boots disorder", which apparently the not so Humble Bemused suffers from on the odd occasion.

I read your accounts and I read many others, then I add in my own experiences and others I know personally and I can't help but ask myself, how close to cult mentality is this, or is it over the line? I remember the long monologues of my fathers about the evils of sects and cults, he just never figured out he was right in the middle of a group that was acting the very way he was raving against, or did he and it was too comfortable and familiar or suited his purpose to stay just like so many others?

Isn't humble pie served each time evaluations or directions are given? Isn't that the norm in most Christian organizations. In fact it is the norm in most families, wouldn't want any one getting proud.

Member Care is more like a nice way to say "member cover-up"
