Hey what's wrong with mission barrel clothes. I still dress like something out of the mission barrel as there is a huge second hand clothing store just down the road and most things are $2. Amazing what one can buy for $2, if one looks carefully. Mrs Bemused (bless her cotton socks), manages to look very stylish and gorgeous for very little. I on the other hand are neither stylish and gorgeous, no matter what I wear :P .

:D

A dozen years after losing my Mission Barrel privileges, I am STILL wearing clothes I found there!

You can take the MK out of the barrel, but the frugality lives on!

:)

Oh I am impressed. I've put a bit to much weight over the last 12 years to be wearing to many of the clothes of last decade :( . (but now getting back to my former glory days, with running and cycling increasing distances).

So we have gone from Mission Barrels to Barrels of laughs and buckets of tears. Not a bad swap.

Oh the Mission Barrel days
When we dressed in clothes of another
Hand me downs from someone elses
Big sister or little brother

And when we grew out of them
Back into the Barrel they went
So someone else could Praise the lord
For the clothes He had sent

I guess I am one of the few who gave on the mission barrel when I was five lol. Nothing wrong with watching what you have, yet I do love a nice shirt and jeans.

When you went to the mission barrel, did you see several pairs of shorts?

They are probably still there, property of one young Bemused. No one brave enough to wear them  .

They should have probably come with a health warning "The Surgeon General recommends therapy for anyone silly enough to wear these"

I wasn't even allowed to buy a pair of the schools shorts or shit. because I didn't go there, yet I hung out there and felt I was a part of the mission there. I also wasn't allowed to be in the year book. In fact they cropped me out of a picture of me and my friends. So I most likely wasn't allowed near your shorts lol

Sounds like we had similar experiences. I felt like I didn't exist, except as the object of ridicule and amusement. It was like a weird dream that went on and on, then one day I woke up and I was back home.

Looking back, I'm happy how I turned out now, I just wouldn't want to go down the same path again to reach this point. If I'd had different circumstances who knows what I would have turned out like, no use loosing sleep over that one.

At least we turned out to be citizens who are honest and decent enough to face the demons of our past publically, to attempt to make sure this scandal is not perpetrated onto the next generation and the next. In that you have my deep admiration for your courage.

Now I can have a word with Mosquito Bite and Raz. Between us we can find some shorts, some mission barrel rejects and a nice pair of Ali Baba pants to send. :o or

I had some favorite things from the Mission Barrel.
MB.
Just like me!
And our kids always looked fine.
However, it's nice to be able to choose
Between the MB/ thrift store
And a real store.
I can picture doing a square dance to your latest, Bemused. :D
Of course, we all have to memorize it
So we can sing along.
Fun!!!!!!!!
