My heart is heavy as I read these posts, I have to stop and start, stop and start. When we were in candidate school in 1975 we were programmed to "group think." I did not realize then that's what it was but I know now that is "what it was." We were given some free time in those weeks and I remember so vividly being at a table with a group of candidates and was asked by a single missionary candidate about sending my children to a boarding school. I answered immediately I would never do that. They looked at me like I had 2 heads. They then found out I was a vegetarian and asked what would I do if I was asked to eat monkey meat. I told them I did not know what I would do under those circumstances and I believed God would give me the grace to do what was right. They then came back about the boarding school and I answered I already know what is right in that circumstance and that is to keep my children with me as God ordained. As I look back on all the experiences of being with a mission board and being with missionaries and working under a field council system I realize now it was very cult like. I am so glad we are out of that system even at the expense of not being allowed to resign and being terminated. These posts I have just read need to be sent to NTM, it is high time they acknowledge their sins of the past. It was wrong what they allowed to happen to their missionary children then and it is still wrong today. The balance theory does not work in Christian missions. The good does not outweigh the bad. Full stop.

I'm sure their "reader person" is aware of all that we say.
What did we used to call that person?
We don't even bother to think about it these days.
We are FREE to say what we think is necessary.
And would they care??????????????
Their record is not that great in that dept.
