Very good Raz. We should never ask for forgiveness. Even Christians should realize God does not ask people to ask for forgiveness. God asks for confession 1 John 1:9. and then He forgives. Confession means admitting all wrong with no excuses.

Confession also has to do with making restitution for wrong done. In the gospels Zacchaeus gave back more than he had taken. NTM gives back nothing. They have refused to help MKs going to the MK Safety Net Conference. What is their reasoning? What are they afraid of? Don't they realize this would be one way trying to make restitution. At the moment I don't think any NTM MK thinks NTM is sincere at all. Everything done except getting GRACE to handle Fanda has shown NTM is only out to protect themselves. There are many MKs out there with mental problems because of the abuse. The trauma of abuse can cause a person to be Bipolar, Schizophrenic , or have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. NTM doesn't want to acknowledge that the are responsible for this. These problems need a lot of medical help. Many MKs don't have the money to pay for it. Yet NTM want to be forgiven so they can get on with "God's work". I think they have missed God's work which is a humble and contrite spirit.

Yes, NTM should confess and make restitution.
They are supposed to be Christians.
They taught us that.
I agree that we don't need to ask God for forgiveness----He says in I John 1:9 and other places that the forgiveness is already there. We just have to confess and thank Him.
If we have offended another person, I do think we need to confess and also ask forgiveness. It is part of the humbling process. But what that other person responds or doesn't is entirely up to him.
BUT in the case of these crimes against children----I think that confession to them/the members of the org/and the world is where NTM needs to stop. What they have done (and yes, people did all these things: abuse and cover up) is so terrible and devastating that real repentance and restitution is all they can be allowed. The danger of re-victimization is such a delicate balance.
However, in the case of individuals who have abused, unless they sought to visit/ call/ or write to each person they abused---I would doubt their repentance.

I read this blog and know it is all true.
It was my experience too.
I left ntm in January 1992. Even today the shame I feel at allowing myself to be part of an organisation that is as controlling and abusive as ntm is haunts me.
I was told the ntm leadership were the holy spirit in my life, amongst many other things.
I was part of the leadership and a committee member in Australia. After I left I found as many people who suffered under ntm when I was a part of it, whether they were still members or not, and asked their forgiveness for my actions.
I know of people that have ended their lives, and some that have tried. I know of people who are so damaged by their experience they cannot speak of it. I know of people who cannot return to their faith.
This is not a christian experience.

I have been sent to the hospital from my doctor today with more complications in my kidneys as they are not functioning now. The first organ(s) to go as I shared my body is shutting down from the PTSD. I don't deserve this! I am scared and sit here alone praying and praying as I am only 41 and should have many more chapters in my life ahead of me.
Today or tomorrow I will finally have my answers on my health stat. I now have the much needed insurance I have been waiting for to fill in the gap from NTM as I have too many mental, physical and serious medical issues from the trauma from my individual abuse both sexual and extreme spiritual from him and then the lifetime of continued mental abuse he was able to set up and force upon me without my parents knowing they fell prey to it. I have now had more recall and understand how very very evil he is by not only sexually abusing me but leaving abandoned, alone, an outsider and left to nurture and raise myself using a stunted mind of a 10 yr old little girl as that part of my development could never be repaired and now can be partially repaired or adjusted with intense trauma therapy.

So can I forgive him. NO. Do I or should I forgive an institution. I don't believe I have to just as we don't have to forgive the terrorists acts of 911!! Just fix me please and stop wasting time on forgiveness the is GIVEN not forced. Forgiveness id given not required is a painting I painted years ago and seems very fitting now.
