In all this, we must remember one thing, we were innocent children. Those that did these deeds and those that covered up, were not innocent children, they were adults who had made conscious decisions to do what they did. They also made conscious decisions to put themselves in positions where they could not deal with what was before them or did not have the courage to speak up on behalf of innocent children, rather sacrificed them for their own needs.
Some parents have been wonderfully supportive and for this they earn our gratitude, some have fought tooth and nail on behalf of the abused and this deserves great admiration. However too many just turn away and seek solace in their own little world, devoid of reality and common sense, and alas some actively work to discredit the truth, that we were innocent children who did not deserve any of this.

Jesus went to Numonohi
He was told to cut his hair
And as for miracles
Those He couldn't share

His message of "Love thy neighbour"
Was considered very odd
For at Numonohi the policy was
"Never spoil, use the rod"

Jesus looked into the childrens eyes
Said "Suffer the children to come unto me"
But he was viewed with suspicion
And no MKs were allowed on His knee

Then He was gone
And no one noticed or cared a jot
For "God's" work must be done
And that must not be forgot!

* * *

And decades passed and one by one
Numonohites filing to the Pearly Gate
For comes a time for all of us
When we all become "The Late"

Wonder what Jesus will say
As He meets each arrival
Will He say "Welcome to Eternity"
Or "Alas you did the work of my Rival"?

Bemused, I didn't think about that question. I would surely hope he isn't involved in anything of the such. I think he wanted to put himself on a higher spiritual plain as he is accusing my husband of shameful activities of exposing this past sin by Dr. Ketcham and subsequent cover up by ABWE. He mentioned he once did something like that (exposing something) and was brought to his knees by a national and was now very thankful for it and he hoped my husband would humble himself as well. He did say he was going to write his pastor and if he disagreed with him then he would send back an apology. I admire him for wanting his pastor's input but what a shame he can't speak for himself on matters of sin. I would not want to be around a man that is offended when someone exposes pedophilia. Doesn't seem to matter about the victims at all. Full stop.

I agree, how can this be someone calling themselves "Christian?" I call myself "Christian." When I do something I know does not represent that, even in a small way, I have a guilty conscience and I usually try my best to make it right. My husband thinks some of these "so called Christians" have seared their conscience. I have really been thinking about what you have been saying about those who defend these sinful people and their actions and the conclusion of what they might be hiding is coming out loud and clear. Full stop.

The conscience issue has me thinking. Most adults do not abuse children for 3 reasons.

1). They have no desire to do so. Most adults think that sexually abusing a child is not normal and has no appeal whatsoever.

2). Most adults have a conscience (or religous conviction) that says abusing a child goes against an inbuilt moral code.

3). Even if by some strange personal view of the world an adult doesn't agree with reason 1) and has overcome 2), the fear of being caught and the consequences of the law, does tend to disuade most adults.

So given that, how did so many Missionary's end up abusing children, after all shouldn't the conscience of a "christian" be operating at a higher level than say a "sypmpathetic agnostic" or a "non christian"?
One explanation I was offered as a teenager, was "The Mission field is operating in the Devils territory, therefore the Devil tempts missionaries more severely than "normal" adults, and alas some yielded to temptation". Complete rubbish if you ask me.

The fear of being caught and the consequences, were reduced by the isoltion of Boarding Schools and the insular nature of them. But I'm still mystified as to how many adults 1) found sexually abusing children to be appealing to themselves and 2) how they seem to have been able to overcome their consciences.

Bemused, good you brought that up again about how many missionaries were abusing children. That has stuck in my mind ever since you brought it up some time ago. My husband and I have discussed it frequently. I did not want to think it could be a pedophile ring but what else can you think? It is so very like the Catholic church and their sin saga. I have read where Christian organizations are good targets for pedophilia because of the trust we have for each other and the fact we are told in mission organizations we must submit and we must "get along" and we must "not cause disunity" and we must "put our personal feelings behind us", etc., etc., etc. This is the very reason we were terminated from ABWE for insubordination because my husband dared question some issues. We decided to resign as my husband couldn't in good conscience stay with them but they terminated us instead. Simple as that. Of course this is why some just say we are vengeful toward ABWE and so on the band wagon of the Dr. Donn William Ketcham pedophile, adultery sin saga. I can assure anybody that knows my husband he thinks for himself. Full stop.

Missionaries by the very definition of the word are not Apathetic. It takes a bit of effort and determination to pack up ones worldly belongings, family e.t.c. and translocate to some country thousands of miles away, where the standard of living is not half as nice back home. Give a missionary half a chance to share their faith and they are happy as larry.

Which really makes me wonder why so many missionaries and ex missionaries just don't want to know about the child abuse that went on. Especially when it happened to their own MKs or their friends MKs. It isn't natural to be so close to what happened and not even have some feeling about it, or make a comment or reply.

Missionaries that can travel across continents to help people who they have never met and who have vastly different ways, yet completely ignore the issue of what went wrong when they got there, it is totally mystifying.
