The Fanda Eagles did not lose their credibility with most people. They never had any credibility with them to start with! The "unbounded zeal" displayed by the Fanda Eagles is a convenient excuse to ignore people they were never inclined to listen to in the first place. The balanced and fair viewpoint of this doubter is obvious in their use of the word "everybody." If that isn't a prejudicial statement, then I've never been in NTM!

NTM, on the other hand, has a great deal of credibility with their support base, which can be defined broadly as the same group that does not believe the Fanda Eagles. These dear souls are not exercised in the least that NTM executives wanted to destroy incriminating evidence, that they kept victims uninformed about other victims, even when they had been assaulted by the same criminal member of NTM.

It doesn't bother these people at all that Nita Zelenik can tell (lie to) the Orlando Sentinel reporter that Joel Price never had contact with children on the field, even though NTM's own magazine carried a story about his desire to teach God's Word to kids. "No one can know everything," they say. No one has been asked to know everything, of course. They've only been challenged to know the subject at hand when they speak on behalf of NTM, and to be available for comment once they've been shown in public to have given false information (lied).

Those who are inclined to believe NTM and disbelieve the Fanda Eagles are not likely to be swayed by any amount of truth.

stating, on the one hand, that fanda eagles has lost its credibility, and on the other hand, that it is harming the reputations of certian individuals, is not entirely consistent. just pointing that out.

A criminal conviction does not determine whether one has abused a child. Scores of perpetrators have never been caught let alone convicted.

When we hear the cries of the hurting, we cannot claim to be compassionate if we look the other way as we are "busy" doing "Godly work".

"A child who has the courage to speak up about abuse is a HERO. An adult who does not believe the child is a COWARD."

Beware: child sexual abusers will stop at nothing to convince the world they are "good" and "decent" people who would never "hurt" anyone.

An institution centered culture will do all it can to protect its reputation in order to preserve the institution and its leaders.

Thanks for that post, it makes perfect sense to me.

When I was a child, my father endlessly lectured us about the evils of Catholosism. He wasn't the only one.
Now I find myself in the position, when I tell my story, it is my Catholic friends who are the most caring and concerned. The worst for being caring are fundamentalist protestant males. And the one who should care the most, but fits all the criteria posted above, is alas the one I share the same genetic soup with. My father does not care about child abuse that occurred in his beloved NTM and still rants and raves about Catholosism. I told him about one paedophile when I was a teenager, but nothing happened. So by the above definition, that would make him a coward and I'm not going to disagree.
My father is being protected by NTM Australia and vice versa, it is something I am not comfortable with, but I wonder how far I can go making their little cosy world uncomfortable by continually poking them with my stick.
Dean Van Vliet wrote to my parents once, when I confronted Sanford about the confiscation of my parents house, and threatened them to get me under control "or other people will have to know". I was by this time well and truly an adult, he did not have the courage to answer my letter, so he went after my parents. They were shortly after dismissed from NTM.
So Dean, whereever you are, and Australia, to quote you "other people will have to know".
