Been through the valley of despair
Or would the Burqa and spikey haircut
Lessen how much we care

Would it be a stumbling block
Their view of the world we share
Would we be like the Jesus we know
Who'd reach out in loving care

In hushed tones would we mutter
They need salvation first
Let Jesus do his magic
Before water we give for thirst

Would we be the Good Samaritan
Or like the Pharsees we so decry
Would we hug and weep together
Or say "Oh Lord, not I"

I so agree. With every word. (That's English for "Amen".)

And so do I!!!!

I think it is good to be challenged with something that makes us really think and I get why Bemused chose these two examples in his poetic rendition of the Good Samaritan parable. He's either made us think, or gloss over to another thread we are more comfortable with.
This has to be a site for all hurt MKs to come for comfort and support, no matter where in life they have ended up, because if it isn't, if it is exclusively for MKs who are similar to us, then we become just like the mission we hold in such low esteem. I ended up an alcoholic, Bemused an Agnostic, yet here we are. What if an MK converted to Islam and then knocked on our doorstep or was in a same sex relationship?
This is the poem that spoke to me, this is the poem that I will take to church and ask my pastor to read, this is what for me true Christianity is about. And I so want to be like the Good Samaritan, because the Pharsees were who taught me to just exist for decades and it was a Good Samaritan who showed me how to really live again.

Yes to Bemused poem. I have been greatly blessed :) by my friends who are outside my beliefs. Many in Christianity are not allowed or chose not to think. I once lived in fear of thinking as if I could think a though that God had not thought of and could surprise Him. Sad to say many exist only. It is really great to live and enjoy life. Tonight especially with my house going crazy with four grandkids ages 4 months to 13 years. Life is great and noisy.

If it weren't but for the grace of God,
Who by the way gave us eyes to see,
We could not and would not judge even one
...That's the way that it should be.

So, now that we have eyesight,
Or any other gift we bear,
Let us take it and make good use of it,
Lets call it LOVE that we would share.

Then Jesus came
And said "these are My children too
I give you praise
For the kindness that you do"

"I go on ahead
To prepare a place
For all of thee
Who accept My grace"

"And those who believe
With Me will exist
But herein lies
An extra twist"

"For those who showed
Kindness and care
You will not just exist
But truly live up there"

"For twas Me
Who sent these sisters two
And you did as I
Would have you do"

Oh they'll be on their knees in Sanford for our heresy
And at the top of the list will be ye and me

But if they had practised more than preached
To far more souls they would have reached

So now by strange twist of fate
Ye and me write of heavens gate

And perhaps God is saying up on high
They had their chance, but they made all cry

So I have found several who write with pen
In them I'll put a bit of faith again :)

O.k., O.k. one has doubts of faith and mind
But his words are fun and his intent is kind

And after seeing what My Serpents did
Why under a bushell should they be hid

And so we write in verse and prose
Kindness, caring and thoughts a flows
