Just got word thru FB that emails were sent to NT missionaries that Earl Grey, (oops, Gary Earl) was terminated and will not be able to receive funds thru NT. They stated that they will be sending emails to his supporting churches about his termination.

We don't know if they wrote a REASON for the termination.

Does anyone know?

The real test will be if they will release that information publicly along with the reasons for it.

All the companies I've worked for, would never release anything publicly, unless they had to . . .the lawyers made that decision.

I wonder how many lawyers they have on board?

Bad news. "In this case, after the investigative team finished its report, an independent panel was utilized to help determine disciplinary actions. All involved agreed that Gary Earl could no longer actively serve with NTM, and should be removed from the possibility of working with children, but that the findings did not require dismissal."

Grrrr.

JUST WHEN DO ntm's ACTIVITIES BECOME CRIMINAL???

What I'd be interested in knowing is when (and if) Gary's home church is informed by NTM that he has been dismissed, whether the pastors inform the congregation or keep the matter between themselves. Will they send money to get Gary home and when he gets home will he get a hero's, tarnished saint or please explain reception?

Given that Gary's supporting church (or one of them if there are more than one) has a male as the person in charge of "womens ministries" http://www.calvarybiblechurch.org/site/leaderdisplay.asp?leader_id=180005254&sec_id=180007650, I'm wondering what sort of reception Gary will get on return, there is not one woman in leadership of the 15 leaders listed (some of the staff are women, like the secretary).

Absolutely nothing has changed with NTM....the token verbal acknowledgement while they shuffle abusers sideways appears to be their only course of action. I note that the American government seems to be more in touch with reality when dealing with abusers.

We continue to hope that NTM may do the right thing but the handling of the situation with Gary Earl only confirms that the best way to deal with NTM abuse is through Government agencies.

After years of carrying a chip on my shoulder the American government has helped to restore my faith. The faith that was destroyed as a child at Numonohi in an environment full of every type of abuse.

Can I suggest we stop playing at trying to do something about NTM abuses through Ihart and non independent church agencies covering NTM's back and deal only with American Government agencies? We have seen time and time again what NTM's intentions are in this situation. At what point do we learn, accept that nothing is going to change and stop knocking on the brick wall?

I will confess that the thought of dealing with any American Govt agency was daunting and did not fill me with any great hope, for my teenage years had led me to believe that I would just be ignored and treated as totally irrelevant. I was wrong!
The U.S. govt does not like it's citizens committing sex offences in other peoples countries and in the words of a contact "we will move heaven and earth to get this filth off the streets". Men like Gary Earl and Scott Kennell are a disgrace and embarrassment to the average U.S. citizen, who just like any other person in the world, loves their kids and other peoples. They also do much damage to the credibility of a big and powerful nation, undoing the good that the U.S. does in situations like the cyclone relief in the Philippines.
ICE has enormous resources that they will pour into cleaning up child abuse and they work very effectively with other governments agencies to do so. All they need is for brave concerned citizens to point them in the right direction.
Remember that the average paedophile has 100 victims. Stopped mid career, that is 50 kids who will not be abused. Each offender caught may lead to others, especially if they are caught unawares.

A lone voice from the wilderness will eventually get some attention and action will be taken. But we take an unnecessary gamble if we put all our faith in the hope that others will speak out and say nothing ourselves. The more voices that are heard, the better the chances they will be heard and heard by people who will actually do something.

By all means write to churches who support paedophile missionaries and their covering missions. Write to the missions themselves. But trust them to take the appropriate action at your peril. Radioshack is right, if you want this sorted out properly, then go to those who want this sorted out, our streets cleaned up and have the power to do it.
