Spot on Shary. While this superior nonsense is believed, the environment for one gender to take advantage of the other exists. Yes men and women are different, that is a biological fact, but the differences should be complimentary.

I've never met a Muslim woman who has been raped, but I've certainly met Christian women who have been and not by non Christians either. Too often we fear what we do not understand and alas we drag into our adult lives the weird and outdated beliefs that we were taught by our misguided parents and their colleagues.
Men of many religions are responsible for the ill treatment of women and the more fanatical and fundamental the man is, the higher the probability that he has skeletons in his closet that he is covering up with his rhetoric.

If a Muslim or Gay sister
Happened on our place
Would we extend to her our love
Or pray she not show her face

Would we see a fellow traveler
Been through the valley of despair
Or would the Burqa and spikey haircut
Lessen how much we care

Would it be a stumbling block
Their view of the world we share
Would we be like the Jesus we know
Who'd reach out in loving care

They need salvation first

Many thanks for your kind support. For me this is a personal issue, I was raised with messages of hate and intolerance wrapped up in some strange gospel of a god who cared deeply.
So I have probably gone the other way to some extent to compensate for this.

Who knows who might be reading our inspiring and encouraging words. Anytime they might knock on our door and say "me too, I was abused in a religious environment that preached one thing and did another". And for each of us the challenge is to think, "how will I respond, if they are so very different from those we have in our lives normally".

Of course the good folk of this site have been challenged and coped very well with the ramblings of a Crazy Sympathetic Agnostic from somewhere previously unheard of . So I think we will be fine, well I hope so, we will won't we? We will embrace and help any sister (or brother for that matter) who needs a helping hand?
