I'm a perpetual worrier. For those of you who haven't posted lately, can you let us know if you're OK?

ViaTears wrote this so poignantly:

I'm not feeling like flying much recently. The wings are tired, wet, heavy. I'd rather just sit and cry. I'm Ok though, I think. My crying is good, it's healing, it's cleansing, it's release. I cry for me. I cry for you. But most important, I just cry. And I am not alone - He cries with me too.

Are you sitting and crying?

Or pacing and spitting?

I hope you feel that we are shoulder to shoulder. You're not alone, even if you haven't had daily devotions in ten years, or if you still go to a church that supports your parents. We welcome your side of the story, your traumatic "adventures.". We especially want to be able to listen if you were taken advantage of in an abusive way as an MK or even an adult in the NT world.

Thanks to all of you who have read my ramblings, memories. You're my friends. What can i do for you? I don't like non reciprocal relationships, and would welcome the chance to help in any way I can. Is there anything that you brought up before and you feel that it didn't get an adequate response or discussion? Please say it again, or copy it. It may have been lost in the emotions of a different issue.

For me, this has been a great place to get started, but not a great place to progress. I've been pursuing other avenues for dealing with what I feel are my own unique experiences/scar tissue. I am still in contact with the people who I want to be in contact with. As for the others, I have become much more okay lately with burning/demolishing bridges that I see as useless to me. That part of it is taking place in other venues, however.

I do wonder, however, if more can be done to raise awareness/get people started. I know of people who took a quick peek months ago and then couldn't handle the emotions that it raised, so they went on their way. For some, it takes time. I know I wouldn't have been ready for my own journey to be where it is at now even two years ago. And I know that five, ten years from now it will be at a place that I would not be ready for today.

That being said, if you're reading and standing on the edge, come on in! Yes, the water is cold; yes, the jump is scary; yes, someone's opinion of you will change (maybe a lot of people); yes, you will feel things you've never been allowed to feel before, and those feelings will scare you; yes, you will have to hit back at someone who has always beat you down; yes, there will be days where it will be difficult to focus on the simplest of tasks; yes, you will experience sleepless nights; yes, you will have to suck back your ego and fumble your way into a therapist's office.

Is your current alternative of paralytic stagnation better?

Trust me, if I can do it, anybody can do it. Your journey will be unique to you, but there are others to ride the river with you. Come on in!

HnH, I am very interested in how the ongoing investigation of Via abuses is going. If there is anything you or others from Via would be comfortable sharing, as far as how things are being handled, how MKs are responding, how you are feeling about it ... encouraging, discouraging ... it all matters to me, and I know it does to others as well.

Those of us whose schools are not yet being investigated really care about this process and what is happening in the present as well as what to anticipate in the future.

Anything you can tell us?

Sitting Duck, liked your demolishing bridges talk. I just got a "magazine" from my Alma mater, a Bible college. There were 9 white olderish men on the front cover in business suits, board members. We have 45,000 Latinos in our county alone. This is what a present student said about the college:

Unfortunately diversity is barely found on campus. It is a Christian college, so obviously Christians are encouraged, which is a good thing. A variety of races is not found on campus.

Why in the world should I have anything to do with such an ungodly place? Where are we, South Africa?

I'd rather give money to our Y.

Haha! My son is going to a Caribbean nation for a month to teach English at a summer camp, volunteer at an orphanage and learn the language and culture- with a secular foreign exchange student program. At least I know he'll be safe, useful and learn a lot while he's there. That's better than most youth mission trips. :)
