This is probably why so few (by which I mean "zero") pastors have spoken out on the Fanda Eagles blog or forum. Heartbreaking, gut wrenching, soul searing. . . . and yet it is the exposure of these sins that is censured as driving people from Christ! |

It does need to stop! I heard just yesterday about a youth pastor (married with three children) having "an affair" with a sixteen year old member of his youth group. She is just turned seventeen, legal age in her state for consent, so told her parents. The kicker is: according to my friend, the church is covering this up and treating it like "an affair". The youth pastor was fired, but not prosecuted! This teenage girl is being treated like the "other women" instead of the victim of a sexual predator! I told my friend about the Tina Anderson case, and she is sending a link to the people involved in counseling this couple- the ones treating this as "an affair" instead of as a sexual predator preying on minor children (and who knows how many others there have been or will be if he is not stopped by the law?). Unbelievable. No wonder young people are leaving the church in droves. Get real. |

Unfortunately, unless the girl or her family presses charges, he will get away with it, as far as the law goes. UGH! And that means, this will not end with her, unless he gets some major accountability in his life!! |

I agree. I am not personally involved in the situation, or I would do more than email the friend who is involved, though marginally. She is a fighter though, so I know she will keep advocating that the situation be treated like the child abuse it is, rather than as an unfortunate affair. |

A recent news item. There seems no end to this nightmare. A Roman Catholic bishop is now being indicted because he knew one of his priests was a pedophile, and didn't report it. No more cover-ups! No more protecting the guilty! http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/15/us/kansas-city-bishop-indicted-in-reporting-of-abuse-by-priest.html?emc=na |
