a bit off-topic as far as ntm goes, but still very near to all of us and i need some advice.

i went to a very legalistic christian high school. it was a family affair leadership type thing. the principal was a young guy... in his late 20s, single. he taught music, choir, piano, bible camp counselor for boys, etc. he finally married a woman from the church i attended. i was good friends with this woman's mother and another daughter, who has down's syndrome. i was at one time a caretaker for the down's girl.

after i graduated, everything exploded. the principal was found guilty of molesting boys at camp, his 3 year old daughter, his down's syndrome sister-in-law and probably more. he got off with a slap on the wrist, moved to another state where he met a widow with 3 children at church, married her and proceeded to molest her children. then he was convicted and spent a year or so in jail.

he is a registered sex offender in the state of virginia. his crime of conviction was aggravated sexual battery. i'm assuming of a minor.

he has a facebook and lots of people from high school are his friends. i tried to warn one former friend of mine from high school about him, because she has children, but she 'friended' him anyway.

on his facebook page, i see he is involved in a local church with lots of children. he has some young children and teens as friends on his facebook page.

i would like to report him to the state police but am wondering if someone here would have more knowledge of his offender status and what that means. i know the man here from our church locally who molested his daughter is not allowed to even attend church with children, from what we've been told.

what would you do? it is sickening to me that he is doing this. i have to wonder how many people know he is a registered offender and why on earth they would allow their children to friend him, if they do know.

any advice?

thank you, ot! i will pm you all the info. i do appreciate you doing that and i am glad to take you up on your offer to call.

i hate to sound stupid, but i guess this means he really is most likely breaking the terms of his registry??

It is my understanding that once someone is registered as a sex offender, they remain on the registry for a certain number of years, depending on their convictions. Typically, it is for 10 years or so.

This may vary state to state. An easy way to see if this man is still on the registry is to go the national registry of sex offenders (online) and type in their name. All info pertaining to their convictions, address, etc. will pop up.

I hope that helps!

thank you, hnh.

he is still registered in virginia. his crime was aggravated sexual battery. here's where i'm confused... i know his crimes were against children, just because i know him and everything that happened, but on the site, it does not say 'against a juvenile.' so i'm wondering if that even matters or not.

sick. sick. sick.
