What a delightful synopsis of your long and active holiday! I am trying hard not to be jealous .... not quite succeeding. I think most MKs have wanderlust and travel bug in their blood ... I know I do.

It is fascinating to people watch in strange places. The entire globe is fascinating, and each person on it is unique and interesting to me.

Thanks for giving us a glimpse of your adventures. Glad your plane landed safely in spite of the turbulence!

Things on Fanda Eagles have been rather quiet without you around, but there have been occasional posts. The significant addtion has been Three Willows' comics/cartoons .... I am not sure what to call them. But they are great, and for those who grow weary of reading my long and rambling writings, the pictures say more than words .... so I hope she keeps adding new ones to the collection.

What? Quiet while I was away? How can this be? I just make up for those years at Numonohi when I said nearly nothing

One of my pet hates is the saving of seats for others in prime positions. It was an endemic annoyance at Numonohi and being an outcast, I sat alone and had my "unsaved" soul accompany my "unsaved" seat constantly. Alas in Europe the German holiday maker is well known for this behaviour (as opposed to the well behaved German at home, who is generally courteous and helpful). So saying there was an incident on our train trip to Copenhagen and an elderly man was forced out of his seat. Mrs Bemused and I waved to him and bid him sit with us. Turned out he was an elderly Dane with an amazing command of most known languages. What is more he was a tour organiser for many famous musical legends, so we got to spend several hours in the delightful company of someone who was great friends with Louis Armstrong and others. He also spoke perfect German and when the German conductor decided that we were on the wrong train because one of his colleagues had made a mistake and upgraded us after the original train was late and to let us know of our incompetence, he loudly berated the conductor in fluent German for being rude to his guests. So the moral of the story is that a little kindness can pay big dividends and for any current Numonohiites reading this and still practising the art of saving copious seats for their friends at chapel, shame on you!

You are correct, Bemused! No saving seats. I constantly have a great seat because I'm generally on time. Whereas, my husband, being perpetually late, is usually hanging in the back.

Just like aged cheese, hey?

And back to travel:

When traveling, fast drying clothes are a great option, especially when spending two weeks on a cruise ship where one's cabin is the budget option and therefore has no porthole or balcony. Avoiding the exorbitant laundry charges is a bit of a game, but we soon figured out washing clothes in the sink and hanging them out to dry in the bathroom worked most of the time. The supplied hair dryer added the finishing drying touch.
Although there were some strange looks from our neighbours who wondered why a bald downunder backpacker used the hair dryer so much
