But it is uncomfortable for some, I suspect.

Imagine if you are promoting an organisation like NTM to potential donors, friends and colleagues. The picture you will paint is of an organisation that is doing good, much good. But what you read is far removed from what you are saying and then it becomes a matter of deep conscience and there are choices to make:

a) Say that what you read is not true, or an issue of little consequence.

b) Say one thing to your supporters and another to those who know about NTM's past.

c) Break ties with anyone who speaks against NTM.

d) Acknowledge that NTM is wrong and has a mess on it's hands that it is mishandling. But try to make changes from within.

e) Walk away from NTM.

Each choice has consequences and each will hurt others. Some will hurt ones finances.

But at what cost does the truth come?

That pretty well sums it up, doesn't it.

I am so glad we walked away 15 years ago. Before I knew about all the abuse. I truly had no idea it was this bad.

But now we know. And so do a lot of others.

If the man was an adult missionary and the victim was an adolescent MK under 17, it wasn't adultery, it was rape.

If the man was a married missionary and the victim was a junior high or high schooler MK, it wasn't adultery, it was child abuse.

This type of thing occurred ... and some of these occurrences were not random or isolated.

There may be some people reading this who know what I'm referring to.

You know. And you know it's true.

I can't quite get my head around what Mr Dodie Rayl is saying or inferring.
If I'm reading it right, it seems that he is invalidating the concerns that supporting Americans have about parents sending their MKs to a boarding school and then rambles on about a man loving his wife and somehow this is not the childs responsibility, so therefore the best way to support "the work" is to send the child to boarding school. (paraphrased)

The problem from my experience is that, whereas a semisimple minded person such as myself who cannot grasp what is actually being said, will put up a hand and ask questions, there is a considerable amount of the faithful who will assume that because it is written, therefore it must be true. And because it is written by a man, it must be even truer, especially if he is one who is in a position of authority that allows him to write in such prestigious publications . . .
