Yes. You are so right Bemused! For a significant amount of us our parents are conflicted. By admitting to our abusive experience they have to admit to the possibility of their mistakes in their calling...or just even in priority.

For how many of us does the "Big Lie" actually start with "We were called"?

I doubt some were called by any form of deity at all, some were running away from their pasts or their personal demons. Some saw it as an opportunity for a better life with power and control over others. Now it appears rather lucrative.

Next lie, "Oh they'll have a wonderful boarding school . . ." Oops the education was woeful, far to much time spent going over and over religious mumbo jumbo that even the "Uncles" couldn't agree on the finer points of at the expense of science and maths. Easy to get straight "A's", just memorise and regurgitate. But wait, there was no acknowledgement of such achievement, just a note on the report card "could do better", no, no the end of year awards and praise were reserved for those who had the right parents or kissed the right backsides and certainly not for an MK from Downunder!

Another lie, "They'll be among friends and other Christian folk . . ." Very few friends for this MK and if them was Christian folk, then being an "Agnostic" is an honourable choice.

You are right Threewillows, it was for many (but not all) a "Big Lie".

This is true of my life. People are leaving my social media life in droves and have been for sometime. These are people who I have an NTM connection. I say this, you may leave but that doesn't make what we are saying untrue. When you bury your head in the sand you choke.
