Her reports remind me of some prayer letters--
They just keep going around and around.

IHART's July update contains some interesting sentences. Theresa's words raise my expectations for what will be said in the promised Summary Reports that will be made publicly available. I hope it is clear to IHART that by raising our expectations in this way, they will need to produce reports that line up with what we have been led to expect. Theresa says the Panama and Bolivia reports will be different than the Vianopolis report was. Let's hope so.

The teams are working diligently on the various aspects of the write-ups of both Bolivia and Panama. My main focus at this time for IHART is to finalize the Panama documentation.

For both investigations we plan a more comprehensive Summary Report than IHART has previously published. While it will not be a release of the entire report prepared by the respective investigative teams, it will contain extensive sections on information about history, culture and events that transpired during the time frame of the allegations in each country. It will describe the investigation and what the investigative teams discovered. As always, the identities of those reporting to IHART will be preserved, but we plan to include anonymous quotes from some of the interviewees who captured the emotions and perspectives of many. We believe this will let readers understand the weight that these situations still carry and how they affect peoples' lives.

In the past, NTM's communication to victims has not been very personal, because they do not know the identities of those reporting. This has felt somewhat cold to those receiving reports. I have encouraged NTM to personalize their communication going out to the greatest degree possible. This time, though still using redacted material, NTM is attempting to respond in a more personal way, still without knowing the identities of those reporting. We hope that the communication will feel more personal and will allow NTM to better express their regret, while still shielding the identity of those who reported.

We are making good progress on the Panama paperwork, although I do not yet have a final release date. The Bolivia team is making good progress as well and is working to write Statements of Findings for their investigation. Everyone working on these projects is very aware of the profound impact these materials may have, and is seeking excellence in the work."

Just to review---
What did the East Brazil MKs think of the info packet they were sent?
What did they think of this letter?
It seems that the world in general did not learn what happened on their field.

Initially, the Vianopolis MKs were very intimidated by the CONFIDENTIAL watermark across many of the pages in the packet they received, and also by this paragraph at the bottom of many of the pages:

"This document may contain information that is PRIVILEGED, CONFIDENTIAL OR EXEMPT from disclosure under applicable law. It is intended ONLY for the use of the individual or entity to which it is addressed. If the receiver of this transmission is not the intended recipient, or the employee or responsible agent thereof, then any disclosure, dissemination, distribution, or copying of this transmission is strictly prohibited."

It is important to keep in mind that we MKs grew up in a very strict and stern mission. A great fear of "breaking the rules" was instilled in us, and many of us are still fearful of "getting in trouble".

Only actual abuse victims received a packet from IHART or NTM. Others who participated in the investigation and were in some cases deeply affected by the abusive environment around them at Via were surprised that they received nothing.

Each packet was individualized. The survivors received a personal report, basically just repeating back to them what they already knew: their own story, which they had told investigators. Abusers were protected, because the accounts of additional victims were not included in the personal reports.

It took some time and some discussion before MK survivors were assured enough that they wouldn't "get in trouble" for sharing their reports on Fanda Eagles. The reports that were eventually shared had to be re-typed because what the survivors had received was on paper, not electronic. To my knowledge, this Fanda Eagles Forum was the only place where these reports were made public.
