So Paul, I hate to be the own to say this, but yes, your opinion to me has no value. And to assume I haven’t picked myself up from the ruins and built a life is rather judgmental and an absurd stand from a person that claims to be an intellectual. And yes, you never said that, but from your writing and you wanting to dominate this site, its apparent. As for your children thats too bad. Thank god you had access to great medical care. As for seeing death and destruction, I saw it all. I saw children die, old people die, I myself about died a few times to malaria. So, please keep preaching to me how kids in the United States suffer all the same things. And as for never bing an MK what makes you come on here and place judgment on those who have been in this cult?? You really should be ashamed of yourself.

Pretty shitty life wasn't it? So much for being a child and having the best times of your life, that was a lie, wasn't it?

And did you escape and discover that the cure to it all was to get so drunk every night you couldn't remember it? And then wake up one day and discover you were an alcoholic who had vomited and pissed themselves more times than you could remember. Have you been through broken marriages, relationships and partnerships?
And then tried to turn to your family and found they don't give a #%#% about you, because they are still loyal to the cult?

How about growing up on a field, where you were looked down on because you were different than most other MKs and they let you know it every damn day!!!!!!!

Shit happens, it's what you do with it that counts. You can bottle it up, till you explode or let the pressure off when it gets to much. You can probably find a councillor who tells you, if you put it round the roses and it will make them smell nice or a pastor who looks at his watch and is not interested in anything.
Or you can use a forum like this to share your story warts and all, because many of us have been there and done that too.

You're not alone, unless you want to be. And you don't have to shovel the brown stuff till it kills your soul or resort to something to dull the pain.

And btw in these abusive situations
It is easy to lose sight of who you are
And what you can do
How skilled you are
How passionate you are about what you are doing
Even what is truth.
This is despicable.

With the concern over the tittle of this post. It wasn’t intended to say that life can’t be rebuilt, it is just that being an MK has left many in a homeland they don't understand with a life that is in ruin. It does take years to rebuild and learn to deal with the aftermath. But to say being an MK hasn’t ruined lives, would be irresponsible. I for one don't know why anyone from NTM would even get on here to try and shovel their nonsense on this page? If it was me, I would be hiding in shame at the lack of support, concern and overall compassion that NTM has shown. Big Business at its best. And as it has said before if you came from the right family and most of the time had good support, you were considered a leader and would get special treatment. This including the children of these families as well.

Some of the comments farther down are really good---that your abuse doesn't have to define you for the rest of your life.
But it's definitely an individual thing for each person.
And the right kind of help is necessary.
