That's taken me back over 40 years. Do they still have nurseries attached to churches? Obviously I'm a bit out of touch with modern church procedure, weddings and funerals being my limit (and now we shall pray for errant brother Bemused, who is yet again not with us today )

Now you mention it, I do remember that sort of call. There was usually a roster drawn up, but if I remember correctly it was always a female role. I guess now days with the liberation and enlightenment of men, it could also be a male role too.
There are very few male junior school teacher left now down here, partly because of the past problems of errant males (but also the very poor pay). Males are taking up nursing more, but few work in the kids department.

I suspect any male eager to work in the nursery, who wasn't a teacher or a nurse, might get a few strange looks, even in our enlightened society down here. But I'm just hazarding a guess, as the pew with my name on it remains vacant.

aye, sometimes men do help in the nursery, and usually with their wives present, but more often in other children's programs that are happening during the adult worship service.

BTW, the pew that HAD your name on it it is now unnamed. We sold the brass placard as scrap metal to help pay for new carpet

Had to google the word "cheque" as even now it is underlined by my spell-check on the computer. The closest match that google came up with was the phrase, "a checkered past." Is that a synonym by any chance?

Ah, no. Checkered past is the bits of my life that I don't talk about, but being Bemused and airing all my dirty laundry for the world to see, there isn't much of that left .
A cheque is how one transfers money to another person. i.e. You write on a piece of paper "I Paul Syson, do pay Bemused, the sum of $1,000,000" and then you sign it and send it to Bemused's very early retirement fund @ Downunder.net .nz" Then I am very and you are richly blessed with they joy of giving, until your wife finds out!

Anyway with all that money from the placard you should be also able to buy one of those instant aeroplanes that NTM wants. I think they call them Kodaks?

Negative publicity through media is still an open option for us in our attempts to raise awareness about child abuse that occurred in NTM, and the mission's current attempts to keep the dirt under the rug.

This is about the only option I can see these days. All other attempted options are under the tight control of attorneys and others with power and money. There are people in key positions who are fighting for the survival of their reputation and their financial security, and they have clearly shown that there will be no softening of their stance.

We must keep raising our voices .... using any megaphone we can find.

Maybe World needs to know it's not over and one with.
