Hmmmmm, I think he probably will only meet his Maker briefly, then it will be off to spend time with the person he will no doubt blame for his "falling to temptation" in the great eternal BBQ.

Completely nuts of course in my book. We all have choices to make when it comes to right and wrong, there is no such viable excuse as to say that one is tempted more because one is a "cutting edge Saint". Let's be blunt about this, an adult male seeking sexual gratification from little boys and/or girls, is nothing to do with temptation, it's perverted criminal behaviour! A perverted behaviour that the average decent male has no desire or inclination to engage in.
These men who engage in this are no more a "cutting edge Saint" tempted by the devil, than I am. It's complete mumbo jumbo, which gullible people believe and regurgitate because they don't think and see what a con of an excuse this rubbish is.

Paedophiles, child rapists/molesters, belong in JAIL, not in pulpits and mission fields, lapping up the adoration of those who they have pulled the wool over the eyes of.
Finally we are seeing demands for accountability from those who have been involved with these disgraceful scandals. Punishments could well be handed down, to add the to public humiliation that is now being dished out.

Personally I feel no compassion for those who have committed such atrocities. If there is a God of judgement at the end of our earthly sojourn, may they adorn these people not with the rewards that they are expecting, but with the millstones that they deserve and then have them sent out of the presence of God and the innocent victims.

It appears the British have been trying to get a similar Commission of Inquiry going as the Australians.

Interesting development.

That is very interesting!

And the challenges described in the article would apply in almost any country, I would think. The protection of some child abusers who have "connections" is always a concern. We know this has happened in NTM's history, and it isn't hard to understand how it would happen in other organizations and societies as well.

Understandable. But not excusable.

A person shouldn't be able to get away with criminal behavior simply because they know the right people, or have enough money or power.

Shameful.

The comparison between the Australian response and the British is fascinating.

The Australians are hardly subservient to the landed gentry and their dark secrets, so have successfully set up a Commission of Inquiry into whoever has been involved in the sordid scandals of childabuse, irrespective of who they are.
While the British have a much more class orientated society and it is in the fine academic institutions that the elite frequented that much abuse has historically taken place. Hence the dark secrets are deemed to remain secret, by people with considerable influence.

I would hypothesize that the U.S. lies somewhere between these two poles and therefore would suggest that a little nudge in the direction of the Australian response would not be amiss.

And for anyone who astutely points out that Bemused is neither British, Australian or an American and should be writing about what New Zealand policy is, it is probably fair to say that New Zealand is closely aligned to Australian methods of dealing with historic child abuse in it's judicial system.

The Australian Commission seems to be finding some very interesting past deeds.

This paedophile fled from Australia to New Zealand and turns up in a little town called Bulls. Here is a strange coincidence, Bulls is a little town that the NTM base was located at till it was closed. And we know there was at least one paedophile on the base.

Wonder what other interesting coincidences will turn up.

The spirit of international cooperation is alive and well.

Wonder who else is being looked at and by who 8-)

Oh here we go again!

Not the Aussie commission (about the best place I could think to post it). This time the Catholic Church again and they should know better.

I wish for a world where victims aren't held up to blame. What is wrong with these people?

Murdered Jill Meagher lacked 'faith' priest tells congregation
Last updated 13:19, March 28 2015

Jill Meagher vanished after a night out with workmates. She was later found in a shallow grave.

An Australian Catholic Church official has apologised after a priest told parishioners that had murdered Melbourne woman Jill Meagher's faith been stronger, she would have been "home in bed" and not walking down a street on the night she was brutally raped and killed.

The controversial homily was reportedly delivered during an end-of-term service at St Christopher's Primary School in Airport West on Friday when the priest held up a newspaper article with an image of Meagher's killer, Adrian Bayley.

Radio station 3AW reported that the priest made the comments to an audience of about 100 people, saying that if Meagher had been "more faith-filled", she "would have been home in bed" and "not walking down Sydney Road at 3am".

Bayley raped and killed Meagher in September 2012. He was sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum term of 35 years.

Monsignor Greg Bennett, vicar-general of the archdiocese of Melbourne, confirmed the archdiocese was aware of the incident. He said the church did not support the "totally inappropriate" and offensive" comments made by the priest.

"I've spoken with the priest; he acknowledges that the homily wasn't appropriate and apologises for the offence and upset it has caused," he told 3AW.

"The reference to Jill Meagher in particular was offensive and inappropriate and the people of Victoria and Ireland mourn her sad and tragic death.

"We do not share the sentiment of the homily this morning and we certainly apologise for the hurt that this homily may have caused today."

The comments come a week after police suggested women should not walk alone in parks after Melbourne teenager Masa Vukotic was killed while walking near her home.

Carolyn Worth, manager of the South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault, said the priest's comments were "victim blaming in its most extreme form".

"This is about a violent, dangerous man who attacked somebody. It's not about what she was doing," she said.

"Women have a right to be able to walk in the street alone without being attacked by dangerous predators."

"It's offensive to all women, certainly to Jill Meagher's family. In some ways it's insulting to religious people too because it isn't about being out at 3am. [Masa Vukotic] was out at 7pm at a time lots of us would be out walking. You expect to be safe from being attacked at any of those times.

"To have someone suggest that the problem is that you don't believe in God enough is ignoring completely what actually happens when there are dangerous men out attacking people."

More details of Bayley's offending emerged on Thursday when the last of three secret rape trials returned a guilty verdict against him.

Two of his victims, a Dutch backpacker and a St Kilda sex worker were raped just months before Bayley murdered Meagher. He was on parole at the time after serving eight years in jail for a string of rapes of sex workers in 2000. Bayley has more than 20 rape convictions.

In the weeks after Meagher's death more than 30,000 people marched in her memory and to raise awareness about violence against women.

Meagher's family is reportedly preparting to launch legal action against the the State of Victoria.

Her husband Tom and her parents George and Edith McKeon are, according to News Corp Australia, joining a lawsuit with other relatives of people killed by criminals on parole.
