Why The World Has Fleas and Mosquitoes: Now I'm no brilliant theologian Of that there is no doubt But I think I've figured Why there are Fleas and Mosquitoes around about See Noah was organising his cruise boat Had the list of who he should admit A male and female specimen of each species Who were able, robust and rather fit But when he looked down the list He saw Mosquitoes and those awful fleas So he drew a line through their names Which left a few vacancies He thought he'd invite pairs from the religions Muslims, Christians and Hindus too I'm not sure how the math works But they came in two by two Well they did, except the Mormons Who insisted one man and a few wives Then the Protestants and Catholics Were at each other like cats with knives The Rabbi and the Iman Couldn't agree on where to land the ark And each pair shouted they alone had the light The rest being lost and in the dark It sounded like World War Three Although the First World Wars had not yet been fought For this was still back in Genesis And history had not the twentieth century up and caught Anyway I digress from my narrative Let's just say Noah tired of all the din So he put the religious folk in a lifeboat And bade the fleas and mosquiteoes "please come in" And so that dear readers is the explanation Why we are blessed with things that bite Next week the saga of the lifeboat And did they see the lighthouse light?
