An interesting exercise I've engaged in over the years is to name 5 people that I would invite for a dinner party, from any period of history or walk of life. Four of my five would be: Edmund Hillary (first man to climb Mt. Everest, then drove a tractor to the South Pole before spending his life helping the people of Nepal to better their lives). Cat Stevens ( a brilliant musician). Bill Clinton ( a very gifted orator and statesman, who has visited NZ numerous times and is well respected here). and Rolf Harris ( versatile entertainer with many hit songs, a gifted painter and all round entertainer) Today this news broke http://news.ninemsn.com.au/entertainmen ... ce-suspect and I feel a mixture of sad and let down. I hope there is some mistake. But we've been down this road before and another person from my childhood that I had fond memories of turns out to have a truly dark side. |

That's quite the list there, would definitely be an interesting evening! Sorry to hear about Mr. Harris, however, that would be rather disappointing news... |

With my advanced age, I can't remember who my fifth guest is. Not sure if Rolf Harris is well known in the States. MKs from PNG would probably be familiar with the name. He was born in Wales, but spent much of his life in Australia, where he is one of their biggest icons. He has been in London for the past few years. One of his biggest hits is this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0mu2Qhr6S0 Of course you'd be welcome to join the Dinner Party. |

Thanks for the invite! I would be delighted! I hadn't heard of Rolf Harris before, but I'm not exactly that in touch with U.S. pop culture, so maybe others have heard of him...seems like he is quite versatile, not just producing music, but painting as well! The Two Brothers song was very touching. |

Oh I think you have But they would be embarrassed if I mentioned their name. But in my doubting confused Agnostic way I give thanks every day To a God I cannot fathom For the courage that they display |

The 5th guest is "they." Hmmmm.. I think "they" might shake up the conversation a little. As "they" have been known to do. |

He's not going to tell us is he? Come on Bemused, get your act together we want to know. If you don't tell us, I'll get the chainsaw out and Mosquito will buzz in your ear ! Anyway I think I've worked it out . Pity about Rolf Harris though. Hope it isn't true, such a talented entertainer who made us laugh with his didgeridoo. Like your choices, now that would be some discussion. Am still trying to work out who I'd invite, will let you know. |
