Is there a correlation between appearing to " Walk with God" and walking free? Sexual abuse is a criminal offence and in any normal society it is punished severely, not just by the justice system but by the stigma of society and even fellow criminals. Yet we have some real monsters still roaming around, feeling secure in the knowledge they will be able to shuffle off this planet before they are called to account. Imagine if a non believer had molested or raped a little NTM girl, can you imagine the matter being let slip, I doubt it. But non believers are sinners, so we can expect them to sin, whereas we were led to believe we were ex sinners and squeaky clean. So why is it that sinners should be punished for doing what they don't know any better to do and yet those who should be living Christ like lives are allowed to go free? Oh, but I hear some cry, they are innocent till proven guilty. Have a look at this: http://www.wavy.com/dpp/news/local_news ... xual-abuse Now is this man innocent? ![]() ![]() |

Wow, Bemused. You make a very compelling point there! Yes, why is a missionary held to a lower standard of conduct than a creepy pervert lurking around the playground? Because Jesus forgave a Christian's sins, we should just look the other way? No, no, no. That is not the way we should apply that! Paul Gess' can still be found on the members list on the NTM website. In spite of more than one MK accusing him of abuse. (His mother, Joy Gess, is no longer on the NTM members list, however. She is now deceased.) |

The NTM experience turned a lot of things upside down for me. I was constantly told, "to forgive and forget" the things that I was told "you never saw, it was your immagination". Good upright christian men were knocking the stuffing out of my mind and my MK colleagues were knocking the stuffing out of my body. Yet as long as they repeated the NTM mantras, they were "walking with God" and I wasn't because I kept standing up and saying "this is wrong". But how can you "walk with God", when you can't walk straight with yourself? The only way I can see that it can be done, is to convince yourself that what you do, no matter how vulgar or criminal, is somehow right. Then you can do anything you please and you can even have it sanctioned because you're repeating the same mantra over and over. So bad becomes somehow acceptable, the really bad should be forgiven and forgotten and it's time to take a deep breath and have a break. |

Reposting the link, as the one in Bemused's post doesn't take me to this excellent documentary. If you haven't seen it, it is well worth your time (22 minutes). http://www.d2l.org/site/c.4dICIJOkGcISE ... entary.htm |
