And NTM is silent.

Their last press release was on July 1, 2013.

That press release was about an event that happened in 1953. 60 years before. A forest fire which killed 14 missionary trainees. Ironically, my own dear father was one of the survivors of that terrible tragedy.

But the settlement last week, of a lawsuit brought against the mission for child abuse? Apparently that is not deserving of a press release or statement by the mission.

Evidently they are satisfied to let their attorney, David Doyle, speak for them.

His words are: "I've been very impressed with how they've tried to take care of these people."

THESE PEOPLE can I say I am glad to be the kind of person he refers to as these people. These People stand up at great cost to expose evil, to protect children, to demand justice, to hold people accountable for their actions. Wear the name with honor.

Yes it is meant to put people into another class below what NTM thinks of itself. Isn't there something about thinking to highly of yourself?

As I said on Facebook, I'm pretty sure the only thing that Mr. Doyle is really impressed with is the amount of money he's making by dragging these cases out for over five years. And how he kept the case from going to trial, which would almost certainly would have meant the end of NTM. (Though it appears that they have a contingency plan to form a new organization if that should happen. They have already transferred the ownership of the headquarters property to a "shell" corporation controlled by NTM people.)

And, yes, Shary, I'm glad to be one of "these people" and unlike Mr. Doyle and NTM.

Missionary group settles sex abuse lawsuit

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A Sanford Christian mission has reached a settlement with a woman who filed a lawsuit against the group alleging abuse by a man who worked at one of its boarding schools.

New Tribes Mission reached a settlement with the woman who says she was repeatedly sexually assaulted nearly 30 years ago in Africa by a "dorm dad" at the school.

Attorneys for the woman and the mission confirmed the recent settlement of the lawsuit but said they couldn't discuss terms because of a confidentiality agreement.

The Orlando Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1ffv5vq) reports that the settlement stems from a sex scandal that was exposed in a 2010 report that concluded the mission had concealed several instances of child sexual abuse at schools in Senegal in the 1980s and 1990s.
