Any pretense of supposed independence in these investigations has gone out the window, that's for sure!

Theresa Sidebotham said, on the IHART website:

"Pii finished the initial part of the Panama investigation in July of 2014. The Recommendations Panel then met in October. That Panel finalized recommended outcomes for the portion of the investigation that was presented to them but unfortunately the leadership culpability portion of the Panama investigation had not yet been done."

Pii says,

"While Pii was prohibited by contract and directive to not investigate leadership culpability, and concentrate only on child abuse, Pii did acquire, during its child abuse investigation, information directly relevant to leadership culpability."

Pii also writes,

"In July 2014, Pii concluded their work on the Panama assignment as contracted and instructed, contrary to Ms. Sidebotham’s statement that the investigation is yet to be “finalized.” There was no “leadership culpability portion of that investigation,” at least not that Pii was contracted to conduct."

On the IHART website, Theresa writes, "I met with the Panama Investigative Team to review their plan to finalize the investigation." As Pii points out, "Professional Investigators International (Pii) was named by IHART as the “Panama Investigative Team” on December 15, 2011." Pii says they were terminated by Theresa effective January 12, 2015, for reasons that they are still unsure of, and that Theresa has not spoken with them since. If the composition of the Panama Investigative Team has been switched to an entirely different set of people, don't the participants in the Panama investigation deserve to be told who those people on the all-new team are? Don't the rest of us on Fanda Eagles deserve to know? Don't the current members of NTM and their supporters deserve to be informed?

Pii says that when they were terminated, they "immediately complied with Ms. Sidebotham’s request to deliver all physical and electronic lists, reports, transcripts, and documents pertaining to the Panama investigation to her office." And yet, the Panama MKs were told by Theresa that apparently no contact list had been made by Pii of people involved in the Panama investigation, and she was having to recreate a list by going over the files Pii had sent her.

Pii is also giving us additional information that relates to the leadership culpability portion of the Panama investigation. In yesterday's statement, they wrote, "Pii did acquire, during its child abuse investigation, information directly relevant to leadership culpability." They further explain, "Pii used this information in an October 30, 2014 proposal to Ms. Sidebotham to conduct a follow-up investigation into leadership culpability. Included in this release are some of the details of that proposal:

• The names of those potentially culpable were provided.
• The role each played (dorm parent, parent, leader, etc.) was provided.
• The names of those believed to be deceased were provided, not to relieve the assignment of the culpability, but to be used in calculating the number of interviews
needed to assign culpability.
• The list of offenders with whom each potentially culpable person is/was associated was provided.
• The clarification was made that much culpability was already assignable due to direct statements obtained during the child abuse investigation.
• The list of those potentially culpable was provided.
• In Pii’s proposal, Pii anticipated completing the new Panama Leadership Culpability Investigation in 4 to 6 weeks."

Theresa Sidebotham is now saying, "I met with the Panama Investigative Team to review their plan to finalize that investigation. I approved their detailed plan, and they are making appointments for interviews to finalize the leadership culpability portion of that investigation. I anticipate interviews to begin very shortly and expect that interview process to take several months."

Pii is asking a valid question, when they wonder if the new team's "detailed plan" might actually bear some resemblance to the "detailed plan" they themselves submitted to Theresa last October. Pii anticipated that the leadership culpability investigation they were proposing would take 4-6 weeks. The new team now expects to take several months .... and they are just now starting to make appointments for interviews.

These contradictions deserve some very serious consideration, friends. Some very, very serious consideration.

Ethics. Morality. Truth. Honesty. Righteousness.

These are values that were taught -- and lived -- in the mission in which I spent so many decades.

What has happened, NTM?

Please! Ask yourself ... what has happened?

It's very simple to explain. It's called propaganda, where only good news is allowed to be told and any bad news is either hidden, altered or destroyed.

And nothing has changed. Remember those letters we sent from the dorms, that had to be glowing reports of how wonderful life was, yet many a night little girls and boys secretly prayed for a lock on the door to keep Uncle out.

To credibly claim one has the key to true salvation, is not achieved when the innocent are praying to be delivered by locks!

Here on Fanda Eagles, we have often used the ship Titanic to illustrate what we have observed about the peril NTM finds itself in.

Well, here's what I think:

Someone has just blown a large hole in the hull of the Titanic. Someone who was invited on board by certain members of the ship's crew. The rest of you were not consulted about this person, or about the advisability of the tactics they were going to use. It is not your fault. But it happened. The irreparable damage has been done.

Is the icy water beginning to dampen your feet? Have you been thinking that perhaps the time has come to get yourself and your family off the listing craft, before it goes under completely, and you all drown?

It is not too late. Yet. The time for action is now. There is no saving the ship anymore. But please, save yourselves, if you have the courage.

Please.

Unlike the Titanic, the iceberg is on the inside. While many are wondering why the ship has slowed and gone cold, some are having ice with their Kool Aid.

For Pii to come out and openly question what is going on is a strong indication that they disagree with the new direction being taken. While they are constrained by the niceties of not biting to hard the hand that fed, those that have been starved are at more liberty to call this what this really is, FRAUD.

Let's make this as clear as we can: The "independent" in IHART does not mean what you might think it does.

I have received this private message from someone who knows: "Now I come to find out that NTM actually owns IHART, and the investigators work for them."

The "independent" definition may accurately reflect the fact that the coordinator of IHART is not, nor have they ever been, a member of New Tribes Mission. Only in that sense can the term independent be connected with this undertaking.

Please note that the acronym IHART no longer stands for Independent Historical Abuse Review Team. No, one word has been subtly changed, and it now stands for Independent Historical Allegations Review Team. The difference between "abuse" and "allegations"? I don't think I am the only one who senses what this change in terminology is preparing us for.

Also important to consider is the fact that on the IHART website, IHART is now defined as "a process". It is not a company or a firm. It is a process, and the coordinator of the IHART process is contracted and paid by none other than New Tribes Mission.

Many, many people trusted IHART with information about their past. This was done in good faith, under the assumption that none of their private information or memories would be shared with NTM without their permission. It is depressing to realize that the confidence people had in this process might have been misplaced. But even though it is depressing, I think it is important for those who already spoke with IHART investigators to be informed about what we are discovering. It is also important for those who may be contacted in the future by IHART representatives.

Just keep in mind, "independent" may not mean the same to you as it does to NTM.
