Once again, Sherpa Dude proves that Vintage 1954 is a rare treat. And, Sir Ornery of Thornery has proved that his education was not a total waste. Timely reminders!
We'll want to be careful to remember that the subject of this thread, although it lends itself to humor, is not about money. It is not about justice. It is not about assigning blame. It is about a CHOICE - a choice regarding ways to investigate the widespread and pervasive scourge of sexual (and other) abuse of children in NTO.
We already know a great deal. And, as Sherpa Dude has pointed out, it is quite ludicrous to consider suing most of the people involved; there would be nothing to gain.
But, we all also know that there is a lot that we do not know. How will we ever uncover it? We know that we can wait for NTO to agree to an investigation. Or, an investigation can be imposed on them. Both choices have advantages and drawbacks. There will never be agreement among us as to how to weigh the pros and cons. In fact, it's doubtful that we'd all even agree on what constitutes a pro versus a con! I think most of us, however, are agreed that an investigation needs to happen.
But, the choice is there; choice, in fact, is inescapable. Even choosing to do nothing is making a choice of sorts. Let's be careful to support one another. We can respect those who have strong feelings against any kind of legal action without trying to change their minds for them. We can stand by those who make the difficult choice to impose, by legal means, an investigation on NTO without deprecating their motivation. Working together, even if it means taking different paths, is going to make a difference.
