Bemused's update:

24 hours have almost elapsed. So far I have 29 automatic replies from e-mails sent to Downunder Missionaries (27 Australians and 2 Kiwis). No replies yet, but I remain hopeful.

Thank you to those who kindly passed on the names of Australian and Kiwi NTMers currently serving on the field. If anyone knows of any other's I'd be most appreciative of increasing my knowledge.

Really??

Not a single one of those missionaries has even given you the courtesy of a short response?

What does this mean???

I am tempted to say something very sarcastic, but I shall exert some seldom-used self control.

But I'm still thinking it ...

48 hours have now passed and not a single reply as yet.

3 days and no replies out of 29.

And on the 4th day, Bemused received a reply. It was a kind and concerned reply, in which the writer has kindly offered to make others aware .

That gives me faith in humanity. My husband just sent out a power point presentation of the ABWE and Dr. Donn Ketcham sin saga and so far only 1 reply and it was quite negative. The reply was we have no business interfering since we were not an eye witness, using Scripture of course. This guy is a missionary in Africa, he didn't identify if he was with a board or not but very defensive of ABWE. I have such a hard time with such attitudes toward sin being condoned in these organizations. His quote was, "shame on you" for exposing this. Very sad indeed. Full stop.

I agree, it is appalling. One out of 29. (it's day 5 and no further replies)

But what does it mean?
How many of those 29 went to church yesterday (Australian time)? A lot more than one, my guess is at least 25.
I couldn't sit in church, thanking God for the wonderful things he has done in my mission, when I had received an email that tactfully reveals a litany of shocking abuse.
Maybe NTM is being bombarded with e-mails asking "is this really true?".
Maybe the revelation is so distressing that the recipients are speechless.

I'm not a mind reader, just an observer of human behaviour. I wonder how many times the delete button got hit? I wonder how many of the recipeints asked their own MKs how they fared, or reached out to their MK friends?

I'll keep you posted, in the meantime at least one person replied and the reply was well written and supportive, so the exercise was not futile .

For sure they didn't use the 4 days to meet together and decide that this one guy should write a supportive letter on their behalf.
But glad he did on his own behalf.
What about the other half---or 95 %?
We'll see.
